I need help!!! We have been members for 4 years at BWV and have stayed there 3 times as members and once prior to buying.
We planned a Nov trip but had to cancel since airfare is soooo high. The state of NJ is off. We switched to October. Nov., we were booked in 2 standard view 1 bedrooms at BWV. Now that we switched we have to get preferred view which isn't that big of a deal. When I called today BCV was available.
Opinion Question: Which do you like better and why??

Have to make a decision quick.
Thanks!!!

Both are great, with BCV you get to swim at SAB. Since you have stayed at BWV, and you will "spend" the same number of points, I would try BCV. You can't go wrong with any DVC resort, and BWV and BCV both offer that great location.

I much prefer BWV to BCV but if you haven't tried it yet and you have to spend preferred view points ANYWAY, I would stay at BCV. What better time? That should also be a nice time of year for using the pool.

Hi LisaF,
Why do you prefer BWV to BCV? We just bought a BWV resale so we haven't been "home" yet. We bought BWV because we wanted to book standard view rooms, plus we visited both resorts in December and my husband and I just liked Boardwalk more for some reason. Also, since I've been reading about the "motion sensor" thermostat problems some people have been having in BCV rooms my husband is really glad we didn't buy there.

My understanding is that all DVC resorts will be transitioning to this new thrermostat system.

Well in that case, I guess we'll enjoy BWV until they do, then suffer like everyone else!

Piglet,
I understand your dilemna. My husband and I have now stayed at both resorts (BCV 2 times) and are trying to decide where to BUY. In December, we stayed 2 days at BCV and 4 days at BWV. That trip, I would have said BWV - because of the evening action (parks closed earlier - so we would go to the Boardwalk for entertainment!) and the fact that we had a wonderful Boardwalk view. We LOVED sitting on the balcony and watching the fireworks every evening. We also loved walking out of the building and having several dining options. We still swam everyday, but did not get the full "affect" of SAB because it was pooring rain!

However, we just spent 5 nights at BCV in March - and had an Epcot view (we get lucky - don't we?). We LOVED the pool in March (we have a 3 year old and an 8 year old). We spent 3-4 hours a day at the pool. My 3-year old begged to go to the "sand pool".

Since you have tried BWV, I say try BCV and enjoy the pool. I really did prefer the BWV view and the proximity to the "action" of the Boardwalk, but the pool was a HUGE factor for our girls. Does that help - or make it worse? :)

Well, BWV is my home (but that's not why I prefer it). We originally bought into DVC because of a stay at the BW Inn. I had tried to get AP rates at the yacht club first, then the beach club and BW was my third choice. Frankly, I was a little disappointed that I couldn't stay at the YC/BC since they have such a big following.

The second we checked in at the BW, we were in LOVE. It's what made us check out DVC in the first place, and I don't believe that if we had stayed at YC/BC that we would have checked out DVC at all. It would've remained one of those mysteries that we never looked in to. We love the atmosphere, have gotten to know one of the CM's on the BW and whenever we are there he remembers us and gives us a big warm greeting. We love just being there... it gives us that great big warm "wow, we are on vacation" now feeling that nowhere else at WDW quite gives us.

We have stayed at BC since then and I was extremely disappointed in the resort itself (DVC spoils you), but when BCV opened, I really wanted to try it (because I had also been disappointed with some aspects of the WL but the DVC there made me add on some points, that's how much I loved it). We did give it a try and we did swim at SAB but overall, it just doesn't have the "magic" of the BW for us. Yes, it was closer to Epcot but it felt MILES away from MGM, the boat dock, SAB, everything else. I know people complain about that at the BW but for us, once you pop out of that door, everything is right there. Short walk to Epcot, short walk to MGM (you just go out the back exit of the BW), the pool, the shops, the restaurants. BCV is a beautiful resort, but as someone who was lured into making a very expensive purchase by the BWV, it was just lacking something for us.

However, I am a firm believer that you never know unless you try and I was eager to try BCV, had a wonderful time (can't even say we were disappointed), thoroughly enjoyed our stay there, but given the choice would choose boardwalk over bcv. That said, bcv is a great second choice for us if we want to stay in that area.

Hope that helps,
Lisa

KTBugsmom: You did get lucky with your rooms. One year at BWV, we got boardwalk/Epcot view and it was great! On our last trip 9/25/01 we overlooked the parking lot entance but the view was still good at night since we could see the fireworks.
I think I'm in a dilema because I know what to expect at BWV and my kids do love that pool. I know they will love SAB, too. They will be 5 and 7 when we go. Since we are only going for 5 full days the pool can't be the biggest factor since we could go over to SAB since it is a low season.
I have read that some rooms at BCV are very noisy since they are right on the the road practically. My hsband says to try BCV and the kids don't care. We are taking another family and they say the choice is mine.

Thanks everyone for your input.
Maybe I'll flip a coin???

Pigelet,
At least your decision is just for one vacation - my decision is which resort to buy points at and where to vacation for the next 39 years! :)

About the noise, I never noticed any road noise at BCV - and the first trip we were on the 3rd floor and we could see the road clearly. The 2nd trip, we were on the 2nd floor - and could not see the road, but could see "France" from where we were. (Can't remember the room #s)

My 8 year old LOVED the slide at SAB - so maybe try it out to let the kids check out the slide. We also enjoyed the quick walk to Epcot for dinner and the "kid stations" for an evening activity for the girls.

However, as an adult - I think I preferred BWV...as Lisa F stated - everything is right out your door at BWV (something I liked). And she is right, the walk to the dock is a bit of a hike from BCV...

So you are right, flip a coin, and either way it will be wonderful!

Since we are only going for 5 full days the pool can't be the biggest factor since we could go over to SAB since it is a low season.

Just to clarify, there is no pool-hopping to SAB from other DVC resorts, even during the slow season. You may be allowed to do it, but officially it is not allowed.

I appreciate that it is a tough choice and wanted to make sure you are fully informed. At least it is a choice between two great options!

Enjoy your trip and planning...
