I just wanted to give a heads up that the last couple days, even if your taking a taxi or uber there is much more stringent entrance into the resort via car now..

So far I've seen a printed guest list being checked, all resorts (including ones not near MK), passengers in a lyft/uber/taxi being asked to show their id (and show it in a way the camera gets a look at it). Meeting a friend, you better know their name and they will look it up. passengers needing to show id, etc..

I haven't been to all resorts but the handful I have during this week to meet up with people, they are now showing a sign that parking is only for ADR and resort guests only, they are actively turning away all other cars (they may allow meeting someone but see above, they will verify they are a guest). I even had to show my id instead of the lyft driver showing his more than once..

So for those who are resort hopping via car including hired cars, be ready to longer to get in lines. You might need your id if you are not staying there or don't have an adr.

They will recommend a close by location you can take disney transportation to alternatively if needed but that's annoying really fast.

NOTE: by close to MK, it's all 5 resorts on both lakes next to MK. Its been business as usual at the other resorts I went to but there is signs saying you need to be a guest or adr to park there.. (other wording for those with convention centers)

Interesting ...

Interesting ...

started just after the MCO fake gun suicide by cop situation.

waiting to see what tomorrow will be like with the pulse area closed down from a suspicious suitcase that turned out to be nothing.

I though this was always the general rule there?

not really, it was more if they thought you were trying to bypass parking fees for theme parks or the lot was getting full. but all the other procedures is more of what i'm posting about as changing.. being in a taxi or uber possibly getting an id check against a guest list for example is very new.

Is it still possible to walk from TTC to Poly? I remember reading a while back about construction or something blocking.

Can I ask a related question on this thread? If you have a breakfast ADR at Poly (or another resort) is it still ok to park there for breakfast then hop the monorail to MK for the morning/day? I haven't been to WDW since 2010, this used to be ok but now I don't know if they limit the time you can park there...

No you can't. There is a 3 hour time limit to parking at a resort you are not staying at. You would be better off parking at the TTC. Otherwise you would have to move your car there anyways after your meal.

I don't think this has been okay for a long, long time, if ever.

I'm glad. We had an ADR at the Poly last year, and we must've drove around for 15 minutes trying to find a space. Even if I get an ADR there in the future I'll just park at the TTC. I feel bad for the resort guests who pay all that money and struggle to find a space when they get back to their hotel. We were staying at Wilderness Lodge and had no trouble with parking, but it was effectively half full due to construction, I imagine when it's all open again it will be a different story.

So, does this mean if you wanted to go to Trader Sam's or The Wave, you wouldn't be allowed in, since there are no ADR's for bars?

When you say they are recommending parking nearby and taking Disney transportation, are they recommending someone park at the TTC and monorail over to the Poly or Contemporary? For off-site people that means paying for parking.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for safety measures. Just trying to figure out how this will work.

Im sure if you told them you were going to trader sam's they would let you in - they do want your money after all

Disney should have been doing this all along anyway. Those lots (at least at the monorail and Epcot resorts) need to be for people staying there. People paying the high price to stay there shouldn't be fighting for spots with people saying they are there to shop then walking over to the parks.

This has happened to me, and yes, that is exactly what they told me...go use the TTC and monorail over.

I know, I've heard quite a few locals say that they like to park at the monorail/Epcot resorts so they can shop at the gift shop. I guess it's possible? Is there such unique merchandise at the resorts? I guess if you really want a Contemporary Resort mug

I always think the proximity to the parks must have something to do with it though
