Very strict resort car security at the resorts closest to magic kingdom.

Interesting reports. Last week I had reservations for lunch at the GF and breakfast at the Poly. When arriving at the GF on Friday, the guard checked for my name on a list then waived me through. When arriving at the Poly on Saturday, the guard simply said have a nice day.

Just us.... we never take a car :). We DO use Mear's cabs on occasion. We carry our MB's, and active AP cards.

When we enter a Resort where we have a Dining Res? We are ALWAYS willing to provide MB, or AP CARD to Security. Given this, and a functioning Computer System?
Nothing else is required. Our verified Dining Reservations are already IN the WDW system - assuming WDW can read their own data.

You just don't know when that stuff might happen. So carry the ID, insurance card and credit card.
It's just flat out the smart and responsible thing to do. I grew up in a family of first responders. It was drilled into me to ALWAYS have your ID on you. ALWAYS.

An ID and insurance card is always with me. We needed them both when my husband passed out right after a Run Disney event and wound up in an ambulance to Celebration Hospital.
Am I the only one who's insurance company has an app with the ID card on it? I don't carry a card any more. They actually don't issue them, they send them to us to print if we want. I use the app

Disney should have been doing this all along anyway. Those lots (at least at the monorail and Epcot resorts) need to be for people staying there. People paying the high price to stay there shouldn't be fighting for spots with people saying they are there to shop then walking over to the parks.

I completely agree.

A related problem is the resort monorail. When it's been really busy at the end of the day, I've seen CMs yelling to the crowd at the express monorail to go the resort monorail. If I was paying $500+ a night, I should be able to easily get on the resort monorail and easily find a parking spot.

I'm glad Disney is making this change.

We usually stay onsite, so are used to taking WDW transportation everywhere but...
Have a trip planned for Jan/Feb '18 where we will be staying with my bro and SIL at their Orlando timeshare.
We have plans of doing some non-park Disney stuff.
So I will need to educate myself on where to park our rental cars if we want to visit/dine (w/o ADR) at resorts.

I guess parking at Disney Springs and taking buses/boats from there is an option.

See my thinking is if I lose my passport I can get another when i get home although likely will be a pain, BUT if I lose my drivers license I can't drive when I get home which is critical to (1) get my dog from boarding; (2) get my kid to school;(3) get to work. I dont drink - at all - so my license pretty much just stays in my car. I know it's not the safe way to travel and I swear every trip I'll remember to take ID and insurance cards from the car glove box but alas I get to the airport with nothing but passport and luggage. Maybe this will be the year I remember.

Oh and we carry passports in case DD needs to be identified in any way - so since we bring hers we just bring all of ours and it serves as my form of ID too.

Please consider not leaving anything with your name and address in your glove box or anywhere in your vehicle. If your car is stolen, that person now knows you are not home. Many years ago my car was stolen and the disaster that was left of it was recovered in a really not nice location. I was thankful that no identifying documents were in the car.

On topic, we were issued a paper 3 hour parking pass years ago when we ate at Chef Mickey's and staying onsite; but it has only happened once. I am glad if this procedure is being enforced, especially as BLT owners.
