Very strict resort car security at the resorts closest to magic kingdom.

I don't think this has been okay for a long, long time, if ever.

Back in the wilds of 2010 people here were talking about the 3 hour thing. And when we asked at the Poly for directions to ttc after our Kina breakfast they scoffed, told us to stay where we were parked, and it was allowed. That they (three CMs at the concierge desk) had never called to have anyone towed.

The three hour rule has been talked about for a long time. I've NEVER been given that spiel by a guard and have never been given a pass indicating a three hour countdown.

We did do what the Poly people said that time. We haven't since. We valeted at contemporary once after Wave and retrieved the car after a king day at MK. Other times we are there to eat and leave. So I'm not saying that I routeinkt leave the car all day. I don't.

But I've still never heard the three hour thing in person from a Disney cm or received a pass with a time limit on.

I have seen signs at xmas last year saying the lot was entirely closed to non resort guests. Because it was nearly full. And as a resort guest at VGF I drove around for ages and parked halfway down the main hotel lot because there were NO spaces at the villas. And hiked all the way to the villas. And I didn't mind it and never once thought "I bet some of these cars are scofflaws who aren't resort guests".

If the resort parking lots for resort guests only, then Disney shouldn't have such big restaurants in them, or advertise them to the general public. Otherwise, make Ohana, Chef Mickey's and the others for resort guests only. Or offer to validate parking if you have to park at TTC and monorail or walk to the monorail resorts to use the restaurants, shops or bars.

Agreed.

Or they need resort to resort transportation so you can easily go from your resort to another without paying more or having to make transfers.

What about if your taking car service from airport to resort??

What is your question??
Based on what is reported here, the car service driver and you will be asked for ID and you will be looked up on the folio to insure you have a reservation.
Are you asking something else?

I usually take a car service when arriving. Most of the time what happens is we stop, driver says he's dropping off, guard asks us for our name, guard ruffles through his clipboard, then waves us through. Occasionally I've been asked to show my ID and I think maybe even once or twice have been asked to scan my MB. Very painless process.

We were given a 3 hour pass at the Poly back in November so it certainly does exist.

We have been given the three hour pass (as have my parents who live local) several times as well. It absolutely exists.

And the resort CMs inside aren't the ones towing cars. It's the parking lot/security CM's who make that call.

When we stayed at GF last August and used Uber to/from the water parks, I had to hand over my magic band to scan into when we returned to the resort because I didn't have my ID on me.

We fly and use DME, Disney transportation and maybe one taxi ride per visit, so it doesn't effect me directly. Disney's transportation is doable w/ a bit of planning & allocating enough time.
I'm pretty sure these new measures are for heightened security - there's been an uptick in bombing/cars as weapons type incidents world wide, so I'm pleased that Disney is taking these measures.
Rather sad that we now live in a world were these steps are necessary.

I wish they would be strict about it and stay strict about it. I have NO problem showing my ID if I were to arrive my taxi. I would have NO problem giving my ADR number to be allowed to park. I would have NO problem only staying for 3 hours (which IS a rule, just because one person hasn't been told it doesn't mean it doesn't happen).

The parking is primarily for those who are staying at the resort, secondary for those who have ADRs, and only then should it be allowed for "we just want to visit".

Honestly, my step dad is disabled and if they want to charge us for a resort visit then instead of self-parking we'll use a valet spot which I believe is still free for those with a handicap hanger. As for our plan to eat at POFQ (mom loves Beignets) I'm not sure what I'd do if they told me I'd have to pay at the TTC and then get to POFQ. Probably skip it.

They wouldn't do that. There's plenty of parking at the resorts that aren't located adjacent to one of the parks. That's because nobody parks at POFQ to go to the MK.

Thank you! Only ID I carry is my passport and usually once we're through security I put it away within my carry on luggage. Thinking I need to carry my license now too. Guess there was going to be this need eventually - just didn't think it'll be for Florida lol

If it's Disney arranged transfer do I still need to keep out or bring my extra ID - I never travel with my drivers license. Passport too big for pocket.

I have not experienced this but I would have my ID readily available based on what is being posted. I don't believe that Disney setting up the ride will change that.
Better safe than sorry

I get the need for security and extra precaution but if booked through Disney DME vs sedan service should be one in the same as I can't imagine them asking the bus driver and bus load of passengers for ID.

In the near past when you checked in at the DME podium you scanned your MB. Before MBs you gave them the voucher Disney sent to you. Asking for ID when you walk up to the DME podium before you enter the que for your bus wouldn't be a problem at all or add any time.

I'm glad. We had an ADR at the Poly last year, and we must've drove around for 15 minutes trying to find a space. Even if I get an ADR there in the future I'll just park at the TTC. I feel bad for the resort guests who pay all that money and struggle to find a space when they get back to their hotel. We were staying at Wilderness Lodge and had no trouble with parking, but it was effectively half full due to construction, I imagine when it's all open again it will be a different story.
Yeah, when we stayed there in September we couldn't ever find parking when coming back from the parks at night. So when we stayed in march, we just parked when we checked in and used buses. Sucks when you can't find parking at your own resort. Or a spot to watch fireworks....but that's a whole different issue.

Don't believe they ask for any ID at podium but that wasn't what I was saying or asking -if I'm taking a transport offered by Disney whether private sedan or DME ID shouldn't be required. And it does add time when the only ID I carry is my passport which is promptly placed away into my carry on luggage after going through airport securityy. Sure it can be taken back out but IMO it's an inconvenience to do so.

So, there isn't a problem if you're staying at BWI & taking a taxi to CR to eat at the Wave or Contempo Cafe, right? We have a tour at 8am in MK. We have to be there no later than 7:45am. We were thinking of taking a cab to CR, grabbing something from Contempo Cafe & walking to MK.

This was the part I was responding to, they'd ask before people got on the DME bus at the DME podium rather than when the bus full of people pulled up to the resort. Like the park buses, the DME buses don't even stop at the resort entry kiosks.

For me the inconvenience is digging out the MB, as I don't wear one until I get to Disney & the DME podium is the first time I need it. When I travel I keep my ID handy (DL or passport) until I reach my hotel or ship. For the average traveler who's already presented their ID to TSA it probably wouldn't be a big deal, for some, like you, I suppose, it would be a hassle.
At Disney sometimes I'll need my ID to check in to my resort. If I'm activating an AP I'll need to show ID. I may be asked to show ID at an airport restaurant or shop if I pay with one of my credit cards, so it's just not that hard to do for me.
