I don't think this has been okay for a long, long time, if ever.
Back in the wilds of 2010 people here were talking about the 3 hour thing. And when we asked at the Poly for directions to ttc after our Kina breakfast they scoffed, told us to stay where we were parked, and it was allowed. That they (three CMs at the concierge desk) had never called to have anyone towed.
The three hour rule has been talked about for a long time. I've NEVER been given that spiel by a guard and have never been given a pass indicating a three hour countdown.
We did do what the Poly people said that time. We haven't since. We valeted at contemporary once after Wave and retrieved the car after a king day at MK. Other times we are there to eat and leave. So I'm not saying that I routeinkt leave the car all day. I don't.
But I've still never heard the three hour thing in person from a Disney cm or received a pass with a time limit on.
I have seen signs at xmas last year saying the lot was entirely closed to non resort guests. Because it was nearly full. And as a resort guest at VGF I drove around for ages and parked halfway down the main hotel lot because there were NO spaces at the villas. And hiked all the way to the villas. And I didn't mind it and never once thought "I bet some of these cars are scofflaws who aren't resort guests".
If the resort parking lots for resort guests only, then Disney shouldn't have such big restaurants in them, or advertise them to the general public. Otherwise, make Ohana, Chef Mickey's and the others for resort guests only. Or offer to validate parking if you have to park at TTC and monorail or walk to the monorail resorts to use the restaurants, shops or bars.
Agreed.
Or they need resort to resort transportation so you can easily go from your resort to another without paying more or having to make transfers.
