VERY sad news about our friend, Sylvia

As I've just posted on the Community Board, I am so, so sad to hear this news. :( The tears just keep streaming down my cheeks as I write these posts. Sylvia, our fellow Canadian DISer, will be deeply missed. I will continue to keep Sylvia, her son Nick, and their family in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks Dan for the beautiful post on the community board.
NicksMom, SylviaM..
A true woman of courage....
my thoughts are with her family...

I am so sorry for her family and especially for her DS Nick. As a mother of two small children, I am just in tears reading all the tributes to her courage and love for her family. When I'm in Disney in Sept with my 6 year old DD, I'll be thinking of NicksMom and Nick. God Bless. Jo

Sylvia will be sorely missed here on the DIS, because I think her courage was a lesson for everyone. My heart goes out to Nick and Margarete, Sylvia's mother.

Dan - Thanks for posting here, too. You've done so much to help Sylvia, and what a glowing and fitting tribute you wrote.

This is so very sad. I'll be thinking about all of them.

I am so sorry to hear this, my heart and prayers go out to her family. Please know that she is in our thoughts!

As I posted on the community board I am deeply saddened by the loss of Sylvia. Her courage and spirit were an inspiration. I will keep Sylvia and her family and especially her son in my htoughts and prayers.

Sylvia,

I did not know you, but know of you. You have touched the lives of more people than you may be aware. I wish that I had words to comfort you right now as I am sure that as you look down from Heaven upon your Son you no doubt are afraid. Fear not. Now you can observe him and watch after him as you would have liked to on earth. Take comfort in yourself and your strength as Nick will need you strong and unafraid. Absence is a space in time that a spirit fills. While earthly bonds dictate that mortals must suffice with simply walking through that space-You have the choice in how you wish to occupy it. I envy you that and can only hope that the space in which I will someday have to fill will be as vast and touch as many as yours does.

Nick,

Your Mom was a wonderful person. Why great people and loving Mommies are taken from us when they are needed the most we may never know. But She is up in Heaven with the Angels, and no doubt they are all looking at you and your grandma in awe and wonderment. Mommies might leave your earth, but they never leave your heart.

My heart goes out to Nick and his family.

May we all take heart in Her freedom. Rejoice in Her memory. And reside in Her absence.

I am so, so, sorry to hear of Sylvia's passing. My family and I send our deepest sympathy and prayers to her loved son and her other family members. May it be a little solace to you that others are thinking of you at this time.God bless.

This is such sad news. Sylvia was one of the most courageous, hopeful and inspiring women I knew. While I never had the pleasure to physically meet her, I thought about her and Nick often and prayed for them.
My heart is heavy today and my eyes teary.
She will be sorely missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Sylvia's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with her mom and son. I will remember her always helpful and enthusiastic posts. Although I do not post often, I am here every day reading, and there is a tremendous sense of family and community. Thank you Dan for your thoughtful post, thank you Pete for making Sylvia's dream come true, and thank you everyone for showing Sylvia how loved she was!

Although I find it hard to admit it, I sit here with tears in my eyes.

As I noted in the other thread, I visited Sylvia in hospital. Although I didn't get to know her as much as I would have liked, she was very friendly and caring. I'm still in shock over this. To think that this great person could be taken by such an unforgiving condition.

I pray for Sylvia and those she left behind. I pray that she has found peace. You will be missed Sylvia.

How beautifully said, Nathan!

Fourteen years ago, I watched a dear friend, also a single mom of a son, lose a battle to cancer in that same hospital and I know how hard this has been for all of Sylvia's family and friends. My heart goes out to little Nick and her mother.

Rest in peace, Sylvia. You will be missed. :(
