That's us. No value in a trip later than March/April down to the Caribbeans. December through February is the best - unless we are visiting the southern hemisphere instead.
As I stated before, Miami is a much more reliably warm place to sail from in winter than Galveston. I know this from experience as a lifelong Texan who has been to Galveston many times, and as a cruiser who has also sailed out of Miami in winter multiple times. A "quick Google search" also supports the fact that Miami is regularly much warmer in winter than Galveston.
Yep, Texas is a bear. I can attest to that. Central Texas was 70 yesterday and looking at 38 on Thursday. Usually, it gets up to 80 before it turns that cold. I think mother nature is just spiteful towards Texas
Doesn't Galveston also get more fog than the other ports? I haven't been to that part of TX, but seem to remember posts from several years ago about cruises from there being delayed because of fog. We moved to north of Columbus, OH years ago. Every year my dd's school gets several days delayed starting due to heavy fog. This is the only place I've lived that delays school because of fog.
We got delayed due to fog in February the only time we went out of Galveston. This was RCL. I suspect it's most common in the late Fall, Winter, and early Spring though.
Yes, it's prone to fog in winter.
