Maybe give it a listen. I liked it. Just thought I would share that. :)

Americans, That's Who

They have fed hungry people
They have clothed people who didn't have clothes
They've built shelters
for people sleeping out in the cold
They've done all the good things good people are supposed to do
Who are these good people?
Americans, that's who.

They have freed millions of people
from the tyranny of evil men
They've handed the government back into the people's hands
You won't read much about it in the paper
I'm telling you it's true
Who are these good people?
Americans, that's who.

chorus:
Glory, glory, halleluiah
(sung to The Battle Hymn of The Republic)

They have left their wives and babies
and marched headlong into hell
Some have paid the ultimate price
so I can stand right up and tell you how I feel about it
and what I know in my heart is true
Who are these good people?
Americans, that's who.

----Larry Gatlin

I didn't listen to it yet but why would you need to say a Warning that it is patriotic? Why did that need a warning?? :confused3

I like it, and agree with a good bit of it. After spending the last couple of weeks teaching 8th graders about the Civil Rights era, I would say had a bit of tyranny and a few evil men as a part of our history as well.

Thanks Dan. It makes you very proud and grateful to be an AMerican. Yes, our country isn't perfect but we try to right our wrongs. And its the best there is.

You beat me to it. It's insinuating that some of us aren't patriotic. Is there someone in particular that warning was meant for?

I would guess the OP wrote the warning, because politics are not allowed to be talked about on the board and they were just trying to be cautious.

If that's his thinking behind the warning, he probably wouldn't have posted it on the Dis. Patriotism has nothing to do with politics. Believe it or not, both parties can be patriotic. We post stuff about Memorial Day with no "warning". Isn't that along the same lines? I don't mean to be argumentative, but I don't think a warning for a song that doesn't even make mention of politics is necessary.

Hi Dan:wave2:

Thanks! It's a great song. I always get goosebumps with these types of songs, too!

LOL, trust me, nothing so nefarious nor sinister. I guess just from being around this place for 12+ years and seeing a few folks over those many years getting their underwear, (panties and/or undershorts) in a wad over similar thread postings in the past. Though certainly not political, I suppose I could see some individuals, for whatever purpose, construing the above linked song as such. Adding a disclaimer in a title sometimes helps to possibly keep one, who might be hell bent on taking something down, from opening the subject thread in the first place. Sort of like telling people there are spoilers in a thread about some TV show or movie, telling people that a thread is about female concerns, or maybe male, or maybe various parenting style issues. A warning sometimes might help to keep a person who might be offended from even bothering to look.

Just my personal call when making the post, again, nothing sinister nor dark shadowed. Having seen much here over the years does influence how one takes caution when posting here. If my thought personally offended either you, js, or you, CD, my apology. And, Costumesaremylife, your thought is essentially on track...taking caution.

And hello to you also, Debbie. :wave2: Glad you and several others here enjoyed it as I did.

Gotcha. I get a little oversensitive when I see what I think is someone making a snide remark about patriotism because the party I belong to, get's accused of that a lot. Sorry for the misinterpretation and thank you for the clarification.
:)

Dan, please know, you in no way, offended me. Quite the contrary, I love patriotic songs!!

And, to be honest, if I had seen it was you that posted (before I responded), I would not have "said" anything but I didn't look to see the name before I responded. Group Hug :grouphug:

Loved the song...no need for the warning...song is not about politics.
