Very Merrytime Cruise - 1st time

We have been on several Disney cruises before, but this will be our first Very Merrytime cruise and I'm curious how everything compares? We are on the Fantasy leaving Port Canaveral on the 21st of December and will be on the ship for Christmas.

Do they still do Pirates in the Caribbean night? I know there are holiday offerings, but is there anything else we should expect that would we different from the traditional cruises? Also, how do the crowds compare? I've never felt over-crowded on a Disney ship before, but we've also only ever done summertime cruises.

We did a Very Merrytime during the Wish's first year. It was delightful and fun. The ship is gorgeous anyway, but the Holiday decorations enhanced it. I'm sure it's the same for the Fantasy as she is lovely as well. Santa and the lovely Mrs. Claus were terrific. The stage show in the atrium is really fun. Yes, there was still a Pirate Night. I never pay any attention to the crowd size... I just have my own good time. (Merry time in this case!) I hope you have a great cruise!

I've seen some photos of the decorations - very excited for those! Glad there is still a Pirate night - that helps with packing! I also don't worry too much about the crowds, just curious what to expect.

I'm so excited to see the Gingerbread displays!!! Do they have Gingerbread cookies on board? Like the Mickey shaped ones?

They do a tree lighting the first night, you get character in their Christmas costumes. The ship is decorated for Christmas and so is Castaway. The bakery/ice cream shop that you have to pay for may have gingerbread.
