Interesting, but a tad bit unfair for them to say that Disney has been "copying it ever since". I can't real blame animators for not 're-doing' work from one movie to the next. While there may be examples of 'copying', it's important to note that it's Disney copying from itself and not someone else. The stories, overall animation, music, etc is all original from film to film and ultimately that's what counts. Also, if you'll notice virtually all of the films they compare are the older ones. You don't see that comparison being made between Lion King and Little Mermaid for example, where computers aid in the production. These films are all hand drawn, so I think we can give the animators some slack for saving a little time here and there.

ITA!!!!

I was thinking the same thing as DBF and I were watching it. He made a comment about why would they keep copying themselves, and I told him well for beginners, these are all old movies and doing a movie frame by frame back then was REALLY time consuming! So I can't really blame them for just taking an old character's movements and using them for a new character.

I actually thought it was kind of cool and entertaining

I agree. No need to reinvent the wheel, especially since many of the similar characters were done by the same animators. Also, Disney has always had a legacy of inserting inside jokes and references; maybe these identical scenes were, until now, only shared within the animation department. What amazed me more than the similarities was the amount of observation and editing done by whoever compiled that video. It was obviously done by a Disneyphile. I have seen all of those movies numerous times, and never once did those comparisons jump out at me (excpet for Baloo and Little John).

Interesting, but not a big deal IMHO. I surely never noticed. I've seen all of those movies and I never thought "Wow, Maid Marion is doing the same dance as Snow White."

Interesting that the films with "copied" sequences are three consecutive animated features: Jungle Book (1967), The Aristocats (1970), and Robin Hood (1973). I wonder whether working on such films, perhaps being ordered to cut corners, was part of what drove Don Bluth to leave Disney Animation. I agree with those who defend this practice as a reasonable time-saving measure. But this minor compromise may have been the begining of a general reduction in quality thast began after Walt died and became undeniably worse by the late 1970s, until Eisner and Katzenberg revived the unit with The Little Mermaid (1989).

Being interested in animation I thought i'd throw in my thoughts on the video, firstly I found it really interesting, I personally don't think it's done on purpose that they copy the same dance, it's not impossible that the original animators were at that point supervising the animation of that character inparticular and they just decided to go with what they knew best also one of the animators on the majority of those films was Milt Kahl who was part of the 9 old men, who were the core animators at Disney Animation at the time. As I said it's just my thoughts after I saw the video.
