So interesting I haven't had a chance to let everything sink in, and I'm not sure what my next step will be. I am a family physician, and I am (was) in a 7 physician group. Just before Christmas, the most senior physician announced he was "unhappy" and wanted to leave the group, and just take call for his own patients. So, the first of February, he did. He specifically didn't want to see medicaid patients, so, now he doesn't .
So, now, I am the most senior physician in the group, I have been here nearly 15 years. The next most senior have been here almost 10 (there are two), and the three most junior have been here five (a married couple) and two. We had a mixed practice, with some of us being employed by the hospital (the three most experienced), and two of the more junior (the wife of the couple and the newest doctor) being self employed. Well, as of last night, these two are employed by the hospital as well. The ones who were self-employed thought that everything should be done their way, and were really very oppressive. Now, I think the winds have shifted. I think some changes are going to occur.
