Very disappointed in Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride

Just got back from Walt Disney World. Overall, I had a great time but this part was a bummer. Being tall and big I was unable to ride the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride. I've never had this problem before with any other Disney ride. The problem is in the ride design and the restraint bar (if you're over 6 feet, it is a very tight squeeze) that pulls down over your legs. It's way too small and tight. Disney should have used a "T" bar instead. That would still make it safe and more comfortable for more people (me especially). Or at least have the last seat in each mine train with a "T" bar. I don't know why Disney didn't think of this in the first place?

I hope Disney gets the message now (more people need to speak up) so future rides will be done right for everyone to enjoy. Remember, Walt wants everyone to have a good time.

Was that with the adaptive seat? I remember reading when the ride first opened and a blogger rode it with an adaptive seat of some kind.

Agree with OP. My DH and I felt the same way - do not understand why this *new* ride is not as accommodating as the *old* rides. I'm sure it has to do with safety - but neither myself or my husband felt that we needed to ride again - it felt very confining.

I thought I read somewhere they couldn't use a T bar because of the way the cars "rock" side to side a T-Bar wasn't safety compliant.

How tall are you? We'll be taking a gamble on my husband fitting - he's not big but is tall, so it could go either way and I'm really curious if he'll make it. He's 6'5" There have been rides in other parks he can't go on. I think Barnstormer is the only Disney ride he doesn't fit in so far. (Space Mountain is a very tight squeeze in the seat that has more leg room). It's not a big deal if he doesn't fit - but it certainly would be nice to know ahead of time! I hope they get a test car out in front soon.

We just got back as well and the ride is very fun,but I remember when I first sat down telling my wife my legs barely fit in and I am only 5'11". The cars are definitely smaller than I expected.

Were you not able to pull the bar down? Or was it just really uncomfortable and you didn't want to ride?

I'm worried about this as well since my husband is 6'4". I've seen some people stating that it was a tight fit but doable for tall people, and others saying it was impossible. It's probably the main reason I only got one FP+ for our upcoming trip- there's a very real possibility that he may not be able to ride. I think he'll be fine on everything else. I wish they would add a test car as well since there seem to be so many people complaining.

Rode it yesterday, and it IS teensy! I am 5'8 and slim, and I could barely fit in, I felt like I was shoehorning myself in!

I too was rather disappointed in the ride, overall. It was "cute", and yes, the first drop was a little startling, but other than that, it wasn't really that good. And no, I am not a coaster junkie. So, it would have been easy for the ride to make me scream like a girl. All it generated from me was a couple of "Oh mys!"

It felt like BTM+Small World+Splash Mountain (without the water).

Maybe this ride will eventually have a "you must be this short and this thin" sign on it soon?

If two larger adults are going to ride should they request separate rows? My boyfriend is 6'4" and a little heavy, I am 5'11 and definitely plus-sized.

I rode it last month and thought the seat & foot area was ridiculously small. I'm 5'3" but NOT a skinny girl. My bag was behind my knees and there was NO room for my feet. The bar locked in and I couldn't move my legs at all. It was such a painful ride when we went down the first hill, my legs were jammed against the bar and my knees took the brunt of it. I could not wait for the ride to be over.

I really want to give it another try maybe without my bag in the footwell... Not sure where I'd put it tho'...

Such a disappointment.

I'm just a hair under 5' 4" and definitely Pooh sized. I felt this way too. I couldn't move my legs at all and it was very painful. I told DS, who was riding in the car with me, that if the ride stopped I didn't know what I would do because I could barely stand it for the short amount of time the ride is. I rode it again thinking I could get my legs in a better position the next time, but it was the same thing. I won't ride it again.

It's a kids size rollercoaster. We rode it today and it was really short and not very exciting. I bet the kids will like it though.

I don't think it would do any good. For starters, they usually put single riders together so that the cars are full. Secondly, the seats are individual, they are carved out with individual lap bars- so you either fit or you don't, there really isn't any room to spread futher across the seat and both legs MUST go under the lap bar.

Definitely do NOT put bags beneath your legs. I would try to put them under a child's legs (if they let you, they wouldn't let me one of the times I rode because my child was then unable to bend her knees at a 90 degree angle???). If you can't do that, put them on top of the bar....they really won't go anywhere, just hold with one hand or put a leg through a strap, etc. I don't think I could have ridden it with a bag under me, but I knew from the DIS that I shouldn't attempt that.
