Hi all,
Still trying to figure out best plan for getting to Vero. Can anyone weigh in with their opinions on what is the easiest/best way to get there? Should we fly into MCO or PBI? Which is easiest to drive from? I checked MLB and there are no direct flights from CT. I'm trying not to change planes with my 2 little ones (4 and 2).
Thanks
Suzanne

We have used both (once time on the same trip). While PBI is a sweet little airport, we prefer going into MCO. We find MCO more efficient, with better services and better car rental options than PBI. In our experience, it takes a little longer (just under 2 hours) to get to VB from PBI, tho it is a straight shot right up 95; MCI on the other hand is easy in and out, tho via the Bee Line and then 95, but the drive was just about 1 3/4 hours. YMMV.

There are advantages to either airport. PBI is smaller and very easy to navigate. MCO is bigger, more efficient, more services and there are more direct flights (the biggest advantage). We have also found flights to PBI a little more expensive than to MCO. Either one will work great.

We always fly in and out of MCO for all of the reasons listed.. More choices of non stop flights, and more rental car options... ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Another one to try is Ft. Lauderdale (FLL). It's only about 30 minutes south of PBI, and REALLY easy in and out - I-95 is actually the western boundary of FLL. I wouldn't plan a 4:45 PM arrival there, but any other time, it is a great option.

You may find better flight flexibility and better fares there, and the efficiency, rental car options, etc, are at least as good there as MCO. FLL, as much as we Miamians hate to admit it, is rapidly emerging as one of Florida's busiest airports - after MIA, of course. - and it may be the best.

MIA is fine for me, but it's hardly user-friendly for someone who doesn't know all it's nooks and crannys. It will be great 10 years from now, but right now it's an adventure for first-time visitors.

We prefer Orlando (MCO) because of the amount of services and the ease of the car rental. It is a shorter drive to Vero from MCO too. But for us the biggest thing was killing the afternoon before our flight.
We had a 6pm flight home and checked out of Vero at 10am. We drove up to Downtown Disney and spent the afternoon there, had lunch and then caught our flight. You can't do that in Palm Beach or Fort Lauderdale!

Either one is doable! We usually go out of MCO, but PB is very easy, as well. Which is cheaper?

We have found that PBI is a little closer than MCO but not by much. I would not worry about spending time in Palm Beach before your flight. There is a lot of things to do within 10 minutes of the airport. Vero has changing rooms, with lockers and showers available so if you want to stay at the resort it is easy to shower and change. While FLL is only 45 minutes from PBI I would not use that option unless the price was a lot cheaper, as FLL will take you over 2.5 hours from Vero, traffice on I-95 can be pretty bad. As others have said go by price and flight times. BTW we just spent 5 days in VB it was great our 5th trip in 5 years :cool1:
