We are in the planning stages of a trip to VB next summer. We went a few summers ago before a stay at WDW and really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere. DH is interested in an all day fishing excursion while at VB. Does anyone have any first hand experience with a good charter service in VB? Please provide any pricing info too. Thanks!

Back in 2001, I took my younger son to VB and we stayed there several days just fishing. It was a lot of fun and expensive. I hired guides form Capt'n. Hiram's Marina. One guide took us fishing on the Indian River for Tarpin. No succes that day due to rains the night before. However, the following day we went deep sea fishing. That was realllly great and a blast! We caught King, Cud'a, and dolphin. In all, we caught about 35-40 fish that day. We went about 40 miles out into the Atlantic, caught our own bait and started in fishing. It was really great fun. Now for the cost, you ready.....for the river fishing day trip, it was $300, and for the day deep sea fishing trip $600. In both instances that covered all fishing tackel and licenses for both of us. We provided our own lunches/drinks. These two guides were refurred to us by VB staff. I would call them (VB) and find out what's available now. After coming back home, my son said that it was one of the best times he had, and for me it was "priceless"!

Make sure you go through Disney when you book this. We were there in April and had set up a trip on our own, did not realize that Disney did this. Well the Captiain NEVER showed up! We sent him a deposit and are still waiting to get it back!

Thanks Steve! I guess I wasn't ready for the sticker shock. I think I may give VB a call once our plans are definite and see what they recommend. I do think that my DH would really like deep sea fishing. My DS and his friend (both 16 next summer) will be with us too. Maybe if all 3 of them go, the price won't "seem" so bad split 3 ways !! Thanks for passing on your experience.

Call VB and ask for guest services. They can send you numerous brochures. Hubby is doing one next Tuesday. I'll report back how it was.

I would love to hear how your husband's experience turns out. Have a great time at Vero!! I'm headed to WDW in 27 days (woohoo!!) for a "girls only" trip with my mom, my sister and my 7 yo niece, but I'm really looking forward to going to Vero again next summer.
