What is there to do in Vero beach other than things at the resort itself??? Anything local thats worth doing or seeing??? even a restaurant maybe thats a cant miss... Also has anyone been to Vero in the winter time?? Do you have any tips or things to do or things that are different than when you go in the summer time, for example.. do they still rent the umbrella's and beach chairs for the day??? Thanks for any information!!

We are going in February (8-13) so I'll let you know. We went in October and the weather was so nice that we really didn't go anywhere. We watched the sunrise, walked along the ocean all morning, came back to the pool and hot tub, ordered a few drinks and always ate in our room. To us the ocean was as mesmerizing as a campfire. We loved to watch it. We didn't find anything local to do, but the grocery stores are so close. We went to Publix and got lunch meat and breakfast sandwiches and munchies etc. (we stayed in a studio). In February we couldn't get an ocean view room, so it might be different. Maybe we'll do more exploring. We were originally going this week and I see its in the high 70's and 80's. I think its 15 here. We just couldn't make up our mind soon enough because we're trying to save money. But the air fares were 66.00 so we are going.

My husband likes to fish at the Sebastian Inlet State Park and across the street fromt he resort in the Disney pond. There are two treasure museums, a wildlife refuge, and bike trails.

For restaurants, we like Squid Lips a lot. It is right over the water and the food is good. They have a whole book with restaurants and directions at the front desk.

Have fun!

Before we had children DH and I used to fish at Sebastian as well. Always relaxing. We also used to visit some of the antique stores in the area--there seemed to be a lot of them, but its been a few years--oldest DD is 8 1/2. We also went kayaking--it was offsite, but was scheduled through the resort as one of their activities. I didn't enjoy it but that was just because I was in a 1-person and couldn't get the hang of the oars!!! Scenery was beautiful though.

We love Vero Beach. I might even say it is my favorite. We just did an add-on there in fact. The majority of our points are at HH and we also have some at BW. I love HH and it is nice for us as we can drive there much more easily, but there is something extra special about VB to me.

We went 2 days ago. It was 82 degrees out and we swam in the pool and my kids LOVED the splash boat. I thoughht it was cold but when your 3 I guess that doesn't matter! LOL
They have all the usual activities. We never left the resort and wish we had more time to spend there.
Can't wait to try HHI now. Though without the ocean right there I am not sure it will be as magical.
Heidi
