I took my first DVC trip without the family this week. A good friend and I went to Ft Lauderdale to watch the Orioles and headed to VB for a couple of days of rest.

While I had no problems in Ft Lauderdale, my guilt factor increased considerably when I saw the Disney logo - how could I be here without the family! While that concern left me for a few hours of sleep on the beach, it reappeared when I walked past the campfire and the pool area. All the kids having a great time - and mine were home in Lancaster with 20 degree weather.

This was my first trip to Vero - it was nice to have the ocean outside my door as compared to HH.

I have now visited all of the DVC resorts - I am thrilled that we have so many quality choices to pick from.

I must say I was not overwhelmed with Sonya's - it was overpriced for the quality of the food. I had two wonderful breakfasts in Shutters. The massage was awesome and the weather terrific.

The big decision now is do we stay on the cruise this summer for big bucks or change it to VB for points. Decisions, decisions!

You could always do the cruise and VB after for a day or two. VB during the summer is a whole other beast. It is very hot. The breeze that blows is hot and salty. I got a horrible sunburn. There is not much else to do in VB besides the beach.

I do love that resort. But I'd say keep your cruise and do VB at another time.

Glad you enjoyed your stay. The cruise is wonderful. I would say extend and stay a few days at VB or save VB for another time also. I do have to respectfully disagree with the above poster that there isn't much to do in VB. Unless just talking about the resort itself. There is much more to do in the surrounding area than most people know. You just have to do a bit of searching. Contrary to popular belief, there is even a bit of nightlife for people under 65.;)

Thanks Madcoco. I guess I was just talking about the resort itself. I am so used to being able to walk into a park or another resort while I am staying at a WDW DVC, that I think of VB as "nothing much to do". I stayed there for a week, and didn't find anything but the mall a few miles away. That was okay, though. We were in the mood to just relax and sit at the beach. The bad sunburn put that idea to bed, though. I wished I had more info on the activities in the area for "post-sunburn."

I'm happy to hear you say you like VB. I own there, but have never seen it.

We stayed at VB for 5 days this past November and really loved it there. We will be going back there for sure, but first things first, our DCL Magic cruise in August!!!

Your welcome A1A1I thought maybe that was what you meant.:) The Mouse is definitely not right outside your door here. Better take that back. Mickey's Dune cousins have been known to show up around the resort on occasion. Sorry to hear about the sunburn. That would put a damper on activities.
