Can anyone describe the activities that are available for a 4 year old at Vero Beach? I have read about the un-birthday party, and some cooking type class they offer, but I haven't seen a description of these or any other activities. My son has special needs (Autism Spectrum) as well as food allergies, and I am trying to figure out if there will be anything for him to do besides swim and play on the beach, if we decide to go there. It seems like there is more for the grade school aged kids than for the little ones but if I am wrong please let me know! Thanks in advance!

There are not many organized child-only activities for a 4 year-old, but there is a nice pirate-ship/water-play area for toddlers and preschoolers. There's also a treasure hunt you do with your child at your own pace. One thing to consider is that the surf at the beach is rather rough, so depending on your son's sensititvity - it may be a bit much. The unbirthday party is also pretty loud and chaotic, with kids making their own music with kiddie instruments for an extended game of musical chairs - plus lots of candy and cupcakes.

In the evening, there are tidal pools if you walk on the beach. There's also a nearby treasure museum and lots of shells and wildlife. :thumbsup2 If you've taken your son to a beach and know he enjoys it, I'd say VB would be a nice resort because it is small and quiet, and the CMs are really, really fabulous. I am sure they'd go above and beyond to accomodate your son's needs whenever possible.

I have a Playful Pastimes from Feb '06. From that sheet I will pull off the appropriate activities for a couple days. Those without ages are all age. Pretty much all activities, any of the ages, were not supervised and a parent is responible for their children. There is also the Discovery Club offered a few of the evenings. You might be able to sign him up for some of the 6&up art/craft activies if you help him out.

Thank you both for the information. It is very helpful. We do know that our son loves the beach, so that is why we were thinking he might like it there. Thank you for the information with regard to the surf conditions at the beach, as well as the general atmosphere of the activities and the resort itself. Also, the list of activities, is very helpful and I was hoping someone would post that - thanks!

What can my DD 10 do we will be there on a Mon - Wed in Oct?

The list I have is from a year and a half ago, so please, only use it as an example.

A 10 year old would have more art and sport choices. I think they have changed it since this printing to shift some to teen specific activities. So it might be too out of date to list them all for you. On my list on one of the days there were 5-6 sport activities and 4 art/craft activites for a 10yo, plus all the all age things.

My 10yo just LOVED VB. She likes it better then WDW!
