Overall impression: Vero Beach is a great resort and the hidden gem of the DVC. The resort is a great place for kids and a great place for couples, not so great for teens and young adults. There is not a lot to do around there except for pool, beach and golf. We played golf at the local course and it was very nice and cheap at this time of year (twilight rate of $20 with cart from 11 AM on), but very warm. The weather was great, mid 80s with a nice sea breeze. Away from the shore it was much hotter. I would highly recommend going here in May, April was more crowded and June is supposed to be very busy. Just dont everyone take my advice because I want to be able to book there next May. On my next trip I would either fly into Orlando (MCO) or West Palm Beach (PBI). Both are about a 1½-hour drive to Vero. The trip to Disney World was about 2 hours door to door at Boardwalk (1 hour 50 minutes). This was driving straight through with no traffic at a speed above the speed limit.
Now onto Boardwalk, but in a different post.
