I have a week free near the end of May and I decided to book an Ocean View Inn Room at Vero Beach and try it out for the first time. I booked on cash but waitlisted for a room I could book with points, and 5 of my 6 nights have come through!! And in a surprisingly short two or three day span -I still have the first night on cash but I am confident it will come through as well, and if it doesn't I still have a week's vacation with just one night's cash outlay. So I'm pumped!!!!

I like the beach and will rent an umbrella and chairs so I can watch the water, swim and read. I'll bring other things to do as well. I'm pretty excited!!

If I get tired of hanging around the resort, what day trips are possible? I'm up for a little adventure but nothing too strenuous, etc. I'd consider driving over to WDW for a day or two sometime during the week - has anyone ever done that? I thought if I left by 8 I could be at the Magic Kingdom around 10, spend the day and have dinner, then be back in my room at Vero Beach before midnight. Does that seem feasible? Anyone else tried it?

I'd also love some restaurant suggestions - especially good seafood. Thanks!!

I'd definitely skip the WDW idea. Driving 4 hours (round trip), getting to the MK at 10 (when the crowds are forming), and missing a day at Vero....uh huh, not gonna happen on any of my trips! I think you're underestimating what you're giving up and overestimating what you'd be getting ;-)

If you're driving, switch your last night to WDW if you really want to visit a park, then head north the next day.

I've never stayed at Vero 6 nights, but I've never wanted to leave the property during my trips (except for dinner).
