Although I made ressies in Nov., we just got a letter last week about VB slide closed during our stay in 2 wks. The letter was vague so I called VB today and found out the WHOLE pool area will be closed. I called Member Services and found I made the ressies with a trainee and she noted she informed me of the closure, but had actually failed to mention it. Can't change my flights and am pulling 3 kids out of school...for this. We will be in WL Villas first 3 nights and then supposed to be in VB for the last 6 nights. The kids want to go to VB for a few nights, but then back to WDW now. All they have available is Saratoga Springs...any advice from anyone? It's lots more points and we don't have many to work with as it is!

Why not stay at Saratoga Springs?? Been there once and it was great, going again on 2/17!!

We were there in August and 1.5 days pool area was closed because of possible hurricane. Not much to do without the pool area open. The beach is great though, so your kids may just enjoy that. My kids are too young for the ocean waves so beach wouldn't work for us.

SSR may be your best bet. I'd give it a try, especially considering pool closure at VB.

Sorry for this to happen. Here is a link to the dis listing of closures for rehabs in both the resorts and the parks.

This is an iffy time for getting into the water anyway. You're definitely not getting into the ocean. Here is a link to the monthly avg temps.

This could be rough being a 6 day stay with no ocean or pool. If you can get into SSR you just might want to do that. If the kids are for that then it may be your best option. Travel time between WDW & VB is about 1.5 hours.

There are other things to do at VB if you decide to stay there and here is my default listing of things to do. Obviously the water things don't apply at this time of year.

The resort provides daily activities for kids & adults with the best CMs of all the resorts.

They have a nice pool & Lighthouse w/spiral waterslide, a REALLY cool water play area for the real young kids, a hot Jacuzzi, miniature golf, exercise room, ping pong, bike rentals, The Green Cabin Room (bar/restaurant) has 2nd floor covered deck that has a fantastic view of the ocean and is a nice place to relax with your favorite beverage. It also has live entertainment in the evenings. At night they have a campfire / s’more roast (bring the Cutter Advanced to fend off the No-see-ums). You can rent a small catamaran or jet-ski for ocean fun. Across the street they have a lake, picnic tables, nature trail, tennis courts, and basketball courts. Disney built a private tunnel under the road to access this area. And of course they have the ocean and great waves for boogy boarding. Everything from the ocean to the pool to your room is no more than 2 minutes away walking. So it is real easy to break up your day

Five minutes away is Pelican Island and a wildlife education center. Also minutes away is Sebastian Inlet were the Indian River meets the ocean. There are many good fishing spots around the inlet, and there are river excursions where you can see dolphins, manatee, and tons of other types of wildlife. About an hour away is Cape Canaveral, (where the Magic and Wonder dock), the Kennedy Space Center (with museums, tours, and shows), and Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge with walking and driving tours.

Good luck. :thumbsup2

This happened our 1st trip to VB so we went to target and got the DH & DS metal detectors and they went treasure hunting on the beach - actually, I believe they had so much fun doing the treasure hunting thing, that we did not even get into the pool the day it reopened (it was closed for the first 3 days of our trip)
