We just returned from a quick one night getaway to Vero Beach and had a wonderful time! We were there about a year and a half ago and were pleased to see that carpet has been updated, as well as the window treatments and bedding. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and everyone was very friendly.
The last time we visited, we ate at a fabulous restaurant called The Lemon Tree. I suggested that we try a different restaurant this time, but my DH wanted to go back b/c it was so good. This is very unlike him, so I agreed and am very glad that we did. I have never seen this restaurant mentioned on these boards and wanted to let everyone know about it. The Vero Beach resort has a list of off resort restaurants. The Lemon Tree is listed, however, the list says that it is only open for breakfast and lunch. They ARE open for dinner. Dinner hours are Monday-Saturday, 5 until...... (meaning they close when their last table is done). Dinner entrees range in price from $15.99 to $29.99. All entrees are served with a glass of red or white wine, soup and sourdough bread, potato or Chef's choice of vegetable, tomato and mozzarella salad and sorbet for dessert! I got crab cakes and my DH got grouper. Our total bill before tip was $53.00. There is NO restaurant where we live that is as good and as affordable as The Lemon Tree. I would highly recommend it and will try to answer any questions that anyone has about it.
It is located at 3125 Ocean Drive.
I am also attempting to attach a few pics of the resort. The room we stayed in was an ocean view inn room. From our room you could see the ocean and the pool.

Thank you :thumbsup2 Anticipation is building :beach:

BTW... I think I saw another thread showing some lobby refurbishment going on recently. Was it still going on when you were there? Did they say anything about the coming of resort wide wireless Internet? Thanks.

There was nothing going on in the lobby this past weekend, but I did inquire about the internet service. They are currently working on getting it up and running in the rooms, but it doesn't work in the rooms yet.

Thanks for the pictures. I'm glad they put in new soft goods!!:thumbsup2

Trying to decide if we should go next winter. The bank account is still recovering from our WDW trip in Feb.

I've been waiting for photos of the renovated rooms. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

And thanks for the tip on The Lemon Tree.

Glad you had a lovely vacation. :goodvibes

And did you notice in the picture from the beach that the "drop off" has been smoothed out? I don't know if they do this every year, but when we went for the first time in October - there was sort of a wall between the beach and upper area. That had been smoothed out to a slope when we went in February.

Thanks for posting the pictures and the restaurant review!!

Thanks for the info. Do you think the Lemon Tree would be good for kids, or is it one of those more adult restaurants? Thanks.

Thanks so much for the photos. I had started a thread on the room updates, but hadn't got any responses. Why is there such a huge slope to the ceiling in your room? We booked an ocean view inn room and hope ours isn't like that - claustraphobia. If you have more rom pixs, would love to see them.

Would Lemon Tree be good for Easter dinner? My stepson is a chef in Boston so we need to find a place with great food.

thanks,

Hey Rob,
I forgot to post after my trip to VB in Feb. Still no wireless at pool that is open (FWIW) they do have quite a nice locked down signal at the pool. Also, when I asked about wireless in the rooms they said none planned yet.

Here's for hoping!

My family of 4 has booked a 3 nighter at Vero Beach this coming June and were just wondering what we might/should do for dinner each night. How are the on property restaurants? Should we make reservations? Does the Vero resort have a "kids club"? It sounds like that might be the only way we could enjoy the Lemon Tree... :) (Our boys are 7 and 5)

Thanks for your thoughts and help!!

There were no kids eating at the restaurant when we went, but we didn't have reservations until 8:00 (only time they had left when we called that afternoon), so I wasn't entirely surprised. They do have a kid's menu and there were colored coloring pages posted on one of the walls, so kids have been there :) The restaurant is on the small side and all open, so if your kids are toddlers like mine and have a hard time sitting through a meal, then I probably wouldn't bring them.

I brought a copy of the full menu home and can list the dinner options if anyone is interested.

thanks,

I do have another pic of the room, which I will post, but it came out dark, which is why I hadn't originally posted it. I actually really liked the slope in the ceiling. It gave the room more of an "inn" feeling vs. a "hotel" feeling. Not all of the ocean view inn rooms are like this one. The one we stayed in last time was facing the beach only and had reg. ceilings.
You might want to call MS and put a request on your room to have a room w/ out a sloped ceiling.
My husband and I are both pretty particular and critical about food when dining out. We have 2 small kids and I am pregnant w/ a third, so when we do make it out we expect good food. We both think the food at The Lemon Tree is delicious. My DH never would have gone back there again if he didn't. I think it would be a great pick for you and your family, but would definately make reservations b/c it is a popular restaurant.

We have eaten at Shutters before (casual restaurant that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner). The food wasn't bad, but nothing outstanding either...think average Disney World restaurant. I am not sure how busy June is at Vero. You may want to make reservations if it is a busy time.
Other places to eat at Vero include:
The Green Cabin Room: Lounge offering light lunch and appetizers
Sonya's: offering grilled steaks and fresh seafood (only open certain evenings)
Bleachers: Poolside bar and grill

There are lots of restaurants that are off-property and I am sure lots of them are kid friendly. The front desk has a list of all of them. Not sure if anyone has this list posted on here. You may want to check out the Vero Beach adoration thread. If you are looking for something in particular, let me know and I can check my list.

I am not sure if Vero has a Kid's Club. I am hoping someone else can help you w/ this.

I'm thinking the OP's room is on the 4th floor (top) under the roof. Not all of the 4th floor rooms will have the sloping ceilings. We had a very normal box shape room on the 4th last time. However if you want to be sure to eliminate the possibility, you can just request 2nd or 3rd floor. Personally, I'm with goldenears and like the character it gives to the room.

About the "kids club"... From my last years Activity Guide (Mid April) on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday...

5-8pm Disney Discovery Club Ages 4-12 Kids join us for fun, games & activities. Dinner included. Sign up at Eb & Flo's Rentals. Meet in the Lobby. Price $30.

A fun idea we did for dinner a couple years ago is order a pizza from Orchid Island (next door) and have a picnic on the beach. It was a lot of fun for the girls. :thumbsup2

This past year we ate more from our villa. Even bringing a small collapsible cooler and packing sandwiches for the pool. We did go the Cap. Hirams. We didn't really go for the food but to hang in their sand bar and have drinks and a burger, etc. It is fun with your toes in the sand and the view.

We were adventurous last year and tried a Jamacian restaurant that we really liked. It wasn't fancy but nice and friendly. The food was very good and pleased our wide variety of needs.

We found Shutters OK. It was better a few years ago.

Your kids are a perfect age for VB! They will love all the activities and won't want to leave for dinner! Have a great time!

Wow...thank you for the pics and the recommendation of the Lemon Tree :thumbsup2 Glad u had a nice time :)

Thank you for the lovely photo's. We are staying at VB for the first time in June and have booked a OIV room.

Really looking forward to our stay :)

Yes, you are right. Our room was on the 4th floor. I have had also stayed in a "regular" room on the 4th floor that directly faced the beach.

I didn't realize they were re-decorating - I like the new carpet! Is that carpet throughout the whole resort - or just in the room? Also - it looks like the wall color is all the same - is that true? It used to be the walls in the room were different - one or two blue - one or two peach - is that different now?

I think I stayed in that same room! It did feel smaller than the others I've stayed in. The first time we were there we were in a direct ocean view room and it was HUGE. I've never gotten that room again....

We're staying in a beach cottage for thanksgiving - hoepfully those have been updated too.

Thanks for the pics!

The carpet in the rooms is great. I loved it and thought it was really unique! The carpet in the hallways is also new, but it is different than the carpet in the rooms.
I believe the wall colors are all the same now.
The beach cottages look really cute. I have never been in one. Enjoy your trip at Thanksgiving :)
