Vero Beach or Hilton Head in the fall

I wrote this on another board and wasn't getting a response, so thought I'd try here where DVC members post, thanks for any input:

Thinking of a little getaway this fall and considering these two options. Either over Halloween weekend or Veteran's Day weekend for 4 nights. Is the ocean warm enough at either this time of the year?
Was also considering Legoland FL, but not sure where to stay. Would it be better to get to from Orlando area or Tampa ? Looking for a calmer vacation, relaxing, swimming, a little touring and keeping a 9 yr old boy happy !!
We were in WDW in June, thought about Universal, but with only 3 full days, it might seem too rushed and not relaxing enough !!

Hilton Head at Halloween normally has lots going for children. While we no longer have young children, we often stay at HH in October.

It would be relaxing.

Weather-wise - you will likely have comfortable days, but it will get cool at the beach and beachhouse by about 4PM. Mid-day is wonderful, as the beach and facilities are not that busy.

At this short a time period, you might not be able to get into either HH or VB.

October is one of my favorite months on HHI. The days are usually lovely, and the oppressive heat is gone. The ocean should be pleasant during the day. And the crowds are gone so going to dinner is also a lot more pleasant.

I would have to agree HHI would be my choice~but I LOVE HHI at anytime of the year! In all fairness, I have never been to VB in the fall.
