We will be going to Vero Beach for the first time using points this summer for 2 nights. I noticed there are 2 types of room..Inn room and studio..I know inn room has 2 queen beds and studio has queen and pull out sofa. I prefer the 2 queen room so I booked an ocean view inn room. Is this a good choice regarding location?? Is there anything else for the kids to do other than swimming?? (age 13, 12 and 9)
Also, how far is it from WDW?? My collegue told me just an hour. Is that right? Any other suggestions on what to do there??

Thanks!!!

There are definitely activities for the children, with the list posted for the week in the lobby. I remember there being a DJ at the pool and that made it interesting for the kids. There's mini-golf, and bikes to rent. The terrain is level, so riding bikes is easy and there's an Historic Jungle trail. We rode this each time we've been to VB.

You may be there during the turtle egg laying/hatching season, and there are activities geared to that as well. We went to an interesting talk by some naturalists from the Animal Kingdom.

I like the ocean view rooms, DH likes the studio with the sofa. So far, I've "won" but I did promise him that the next time we will go for the sofa and the studio.

Bobbi :goodvibes

PS. It is more than an hour, from WDW. I think it's more like 2 hours, and maybe a bit more than that.

The activities for kids' listed is what I recall. There's also a game room (small) near the pool. I also recall a campfire type activity for families in the evening.
I would say the Inn rooms are better based on the 2 queen beds and the views. The views from the studio had lush vegetation around them from what I recalled (did a DVC tour at this resort). The ocean view Inn rooms can't be beat----that's what we had.
As for the drive, my uncle lives less than 10 min from the resort and we visit him often when we're in WDW. We can do the trip in 90 min. But I don't think an hour is possible unless one were speeding the whole way ?

We did a combo trip of 3 days at WDW and 4 at VB. My DD10 loved Vero better then WDW! She played mini golf constantly and also took a liking to shuffle board, croquet and air hockey while we were there. The camp fire was a big hit and we went twice. There are usually a few organized things for that age group to do each day. She only did the T-shirt painting craft and the un-birthday party (for her it was a birtday party because it was on her birthday!). There was a DJ at the pool on the weekend having the kids do fun games. The ocean for us is a novelity so we played in the waves for a day.

I think it is a great place for kids of this age.

We had a OVIR and haven't seen the studios other then in pics. We really enjoyed staying in the Inn. We ended up in a prime location but be aware that the OVIR's do incude rooms on the north and south (pool) side of the Inn as well as the east(ocean).

Our ocean view had a view of the pool as well......but we loved it. We had one of the larger corner L-shaped rooms on the 3rd floor. Here's a pic of our view :

We loved being in the Inn! You can just go down to the shop and pick up video and snacks without leaving the building! The pool is very close. And the porch is lovely!

I convinced my DH to tag on a couple of nights onto our WDW vacation...so we'll be staying for 2 nights. It will be our first time there (and that's where we own...since 2000 :rotfl2: ).......we decided on the Ocean view Inn room...and from the sounds of your reports.....I'm glad we did!!!

I'd love to hear from others who did some of the kids programs. Our DD will be 4 and wondered which programs she might like to do. There's a campfire on Sunday (our first night)...and we'll probably for sure check that out.

I'm glad you asked this question, because I know nothing about VB. Do the Inn rooms still have the mini kitchen?
