After 18 DVC years my son and I will be going to Vero for the first time next week. This was a last-minute thing and although I have done some research I do have a few questions I hope someone can answer for me.

We are 2 adults, 51 and 21. We live 1 mile from the gulf and total drive time is about 3 1/2 hrs. We are not quite comfortable eating out every meal yet, so I will be taking a cooler full of chicken salad, pasta salad, snacks, drinks, etc. We are staying in a studio, requested building 14.

1. I want to confirm that there are elevators at the villas, and this is not an OKW situation. I can lug the cooler upstairs but just want clarification and can still request ground floor if needed.

2. I have Cutter Deepwoods. Is that enough for the no-seeums? I think the beach is closed at night due to turtles so may not even need to worry about it. Although we do have no-seeums on the gulf side, they don't seem as bad as I have read they are over there.

3. I want to make sure that taking your own beach toys isn't frowned upon (buckets, sifter, shovels). I don't want to look like the Clampits carrying toys there if it's not acceptable. That goes for a big floaty inner tube also.

4. I plan on renting chairs/umbrella for 2 days. Do they set those up for me and I just pay there? Do I need to reserve those ahead of time and if so where?

5. Is the pizza next-door bad? Is the deli bad? Would like to just park and stay for 3 days.

Thanks so much for whoever takes the time to read all this.

1. There are elevators.

2. Never been there when the no-seems were present. We went both times in late August.

3. Bring whatever you want to the beach.

4. Staff at beach where you rent chairs etc., either have them set up already or will set up.
Last time we went, I rent for 3 days, 2 chairs and an umbrella, the CM gave me an assigned set up/ spot for all 3 days. He had it ready for me when I arrived each day.

We love VB...quiet but beautiful. Enjoy!👍🏻😉

Those no-see-ums bites are horrid and itch like crazy. Bring something for the itching after the fact. They will itch forever, too.

There aren't a lot of places to eat nearby anyway, so we bring food as well. There is a small store at the resort. We've never had bug bites from staying there. There are elevators. Parking is underground so you don't want to make lots of trips back and forth if you don't have to. There is a lovely sitting area facing the ocean which could be in any New England coastal town and we could spend all day there watching the waves! Enjoy!

We are from Tampa Bay area and assume you are in the area by the way you described your location! We are BLT and VB owners and have been going to Vero each summer for over 10 years.

1. Yes, elevators at the villas. We like now w everything going especially on that all the villas are accessed from the outside, not an inside common hallway etc.
2. All of our trips to VB have been in the summer w the exception of one in late April. I get eaten alive by the no-seeums as does my daughter. My son and husband are unaffected. Bring whatever you can and hope for the best! Of course dusk is the worse but I find it much worse than in our area.
3. Yes, you can bring whatever you want. My kids are younger and we bring all our gear but...
4. We rent chairs and umbrellas each time. As someone mentioned you can tell the staff you want it for multiple days and they will get it ready. Also bring your DVC card bc you get a 10% discount (I think it's 10 but it's something!)
5. The only thing the resort could use are more food choices. We tried the pizza next door several years ago. Not impressed. Actually the quick serve they made at the resort a few years back is SO much better than it used to be. (They have full pizzas there as well) They have a good selection of sandwiches and usually a hot item of the day. The on-site restaurant is good but like you, we are staying away from indoor dining for some time. Last time we were there last year we found more food delivery services now deliver to the resort. Many more options. Downtown Vero is about a 15-20 min drive, fyi.

hope this helps! We are going back this summer as well. We really love it there.

I am one that gets eaten alive by the no see ums. I'm an owner and rarely go because of this.

They don't bother some people, but I can't do the campfire or anything that involves sitting out, unless it is during the colder weather. Even the pool if I am near any greenery, I get bit.

Three days sounds like the perfect length of time at Vero.

Yes, we are in Palm Harbor. We are about 5 minutes from the beach here and never felt the need to go to Vero but need to get out of dodge for a couple of days and feel somewhat comfortable going there. I never thought we would choose a pull-out over the 2nd bed but the villas feel "safer" in a way. Going to make a pit stop at UCF and visit my son's apt that I pay for that he doesn't stay in any more. Thanks for all of your tips.

for the no seeum issues. I go to vero every year. the only product that seems to work for no seeums for my family is any lemon eucalyptus product (Repel or similar). It smells, but it works. All the other products Off etc. just dont seem to work.

Thanks for the info. I'll pick some up before we go. I would rather stink than get bitten.

I get bit by all the mosquitos. I am sure these others will get me too. We are going to vero over july 4. Never been looking forward to a relaxing trip.
