Hello. My husband and I are new DVC members. I have been unable to find any information about fishing in the Vero Beach area. My husband loves to fish when we go on our WDW vacations - bass fishing excursions. I am just wondering if there are fishing excursions available in the Vero Beach area. I know there are none provided by Disney but wondering about private companies in the area. Any info would be appreciated.

I did read a trip report from someone who had stayed in Vero Beach and the husband did a lot of fishing but I have been unable to relocated that trip report.

Hi Jeanette. First of all a Warm welcome to DVC and the DIS boards. We're happy DVC'ers from Belfast, Northern Ireland. We've been to Vero Beach many times, but never tried a fishing trip, although I have tried fishing at Sebastian Inlet State Park - just a few miles north of the resort. You pay a small fee to enter the park, but this does you all day. I hired a rod and reel and some bait from a tackle shop on site - not very expensive. Had a great time although I didn't catch anything. Maybe that's because I'm not very good - LOL.

Here's a link to the park -http://www.sebastianfl.com/inletz.htm

PS - you might want to check with the front desk on arrival for fishing excursions. I'm sure there's some boat charters on Indian River.

Hope this helps.

jj..........:)

Jeanette -- The Vero area is famous for it's fishing, especially offshore fishing for sailfish. Here's a link to some basic info on fishing in the area. I'll see if I can find anything on companies that take you fishing. I'm also sure that the resort can provide you with that info.

Fishing In Vero

My father is a HUGE bass fishing fan. He brings his boat down to Florida every year to fish for bass. When he found out we now owned DVC in Vero Beach, he was so excited to tell us all about the lake he fished right by or even in Vero. He can't wait for our next trip, he has already promised my son that they would drive with the boat, while the rest of us fly, lol.

I can get you more info on this if you want, just email me at kelly@ktrainor.com

Have fun

This past summer my son and I chartered several private boats with guides out of Capt Hirams Marina there in Sebastian while staying at VB. We fished the Indian River and went deep sea fishing several times. Both are expensive, but we both had great times! The fishing in the Atlantic was probably the most fun for both of us. We caught Barracuda, Dolphin, King Fish, and I caught several 4'-5' sharks. It was well worth the money. Hope this helps some.

How expensive is expensive? WDW is now charging $195 for its 7am bass fishing excursion at Bay Lake. The 7am trip is my husband's favorite. The other 2 daily excursions are $160. $160 per excursion is still being charged at Crescent Lake and the MarketPlace. Also, shiners are not included. Since my husband fishes alone if one of my kids is not there to fish with him, this is an expensive trip to me. But he got hooked on the bass fishing excursions when they were "free" back with the old Food and Fun Plan. Remember those good ol days?
