Vero Beach/DVC Booking Question?

Because of my son's football training schedule, I had to wait to book a trip to Vero Beach July 27th - Aug. 3rd, 2006.

I have booked 3-days and I am on a waiting list for the remaining 4-days. Has anyone tried this before? What are the odds of actually booking those remaining 4-days with several months still ahead of me?

Just looking for some opinions. Thanks! :thumbsup2

We have had good luck picking up days last minute at Vero. I will say that we've had to be very flexible as to accomodations; we took whatever we could get. The best reservation we've ever been able to snag was a last minute reservation for at least 3 days and it was done within a week of the arrival date. You just never know, though. Be prepared to have to switch rooms or shorten your overall trip if not all 4 days are available. Perhaps look into cash for the days you can't book with points. Good luck.

I've gotten last minute accommodations in Vero a couple of times.

But I'd never want to spend a week there! I'd say 3 nights is my max.

These comments make me laugh. :rotfl2: It is pretty sad that our society needs non stop action all the time. How anyone gets board at VB is beyond me. :confused3 I could spend a month there. Beach, pool, waterslide, mini- golf, bike rentals, scheduled activities, music poolside on Sundays, fishing, tennis, basketball, area shopping and dining, etc. This isn't enough for people? This isn't a knock on you by the way, I've seen these posts frequently on here. To the OP, if you enjoying relaxing with a little fun thrown in at the beach then you'll never want to leave this gem of a resort.
We all need to turn off the cell phones and relax.

I'm glad I like low key and don't have to be at WDW all the time. I am sooooo looking forward to going to VB in June and just relaxing on the beach or by the pool. :cheer2:

You might want to make a backup reservation for those 4 night at WDW. Then have MS try to switch day by day if VB becomes available. If nothing opens up at least you will have a place to stay. You can relax at any WDW DVC without going to the Disney parks.

I called at the six month window for VB and could not get any of the nights I wanted. I think VB is Disney's best kept secret.

I agree. It took us a visit or two to fully appreciate how it forces us to relax. I'm going to get blasted for saying this but we like it better than the Hilton Head property.

I visited VB for a few days in 2000. That was the most relaxing trip I've ever had. I love just sitting by the pool and reading. When I got back from that trip, I truly felt renewed in a way I don't think I've felt after any other vacation.

We stayed at Hilton Head in 2005 and loved it. We really want to try VB this summer.

I grew up close to the ocean in New Jersey and I take it for granted. My kids had to point out to me that there is no ocean here in Illinois, so it's a real treat for them.

Vero Beach looks just perfect for what I want to do. If I have to I can probably always switch over to Old Key West a couple of months out, since they seem to always have rooms available.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for my remaining four days. I might just have to call Member Services now & then, just to be "helpful" in getting my reservation filled. :cool1:

I'm a Jersey girl and always loved going to the shore. VB is very quiet and laid back. Beautiful resort but not at all like the Jersey shore. If you like to dine out and don't want to eat at the resort you have to drive about 10 -15 minutes. Hope you get a ressie, you'll love it.
