Looks like the Vero Beach resort is going to be sold, it has been determined that the whole project was a big financial failure. I am hearing they are getting a new management company starting Sept 2004, rumored to be Marriot. This is terrible news for Vero Beach members and a very sad day.

Firstly welcome to DIS.
Secondly this topic has been discussed at length and (atm) is simply rumour and little more.

Tiggery, for all we know goofy50 could have used a different username to post this post???

goofy50, where did you hear this from?

I think calling himself "Goofy" is not only an understatement but kind as well. Vero Beach, while scaled down from it's original plans, is a far cry from a financial disaster. It is ( or very nearly is ) sold out and can be very difficult to get reservaions for. From reading these posts it seems as though the resort consistently receives rave reviews and that more and more "on-site" owners are now enjoying Vero. As far as I'm concerned the "Goofball" is simply looking to get a rise out of people.

Isn't April Fools' Day April 1?

Yes it is, Pam, but everyday can be Troll Day on the Internet! ;)

I think some of us VB owners would have heard.

I saw it on this board first; it seems the next DVC resort is gonna be on Mars too! Hey, VB is nice, but Mars!!! Probly gonna use the proceeds from VB to finance the first few rocket ships full of construction workers (but who knows, maybe they'll hire locals there)::yes::
Oh yeah!!:bounce:

Pig Pen -

If it were for sale, I doubt we'd hear (unless it was via an insider rumor) until either a deal was complete or at least an offer was made (ala Comcast). I used to be involved in this sort of work, you don't let the general public (or even your "leasees") know when you are divesting yourself of holdings, unless you are desperate to find a buyer. Most of the time you make a few quiet inquiries to likely interested parties and see if the interest is there. However, most of the deals never go through.

I'm NOT saying that the rumor has any truth to it, just that its not likely we would hear about ANY DVC property being sold until it was a done deal. After all, how many of us hear about the slide at OKW before it was announced?

Can you please provide us with any facts or sources to back up your post? Your post holds very little credit in my eyes because Disney is still selling points advertised on the DVC member website. As a Vero member I think we may know ahead of time.

[sarcasm]Oh how awesome! Since I have plenty of VWL points on top of my VB points, I am in heaven! Now I am a Marriott owner, and a DVC owner! The best part is that I still get to stay at VB![/sarcasm]

Maistre Gracey, You are going to be too busy to use your DVC points-- You may have missed the thread, but I believe you are going to be very busy piloting the shuttle in Mars- (I nominated you for that job, however I did suggest they pay you in DVC points!;) )

DVC should give out an award for rumor of the month. I love 'em. Never any facts, just "heard" it somewhere.

Michael Eisner was on CNN last week with Larry King and he says people still ask him if Walt Disney is frozen somewhere so he can be brought back to life. Walt, according to Mike is not frozen, and is buried. Eisner says he has visited the grave.

Maybe Larry King could have him back to dispell DVC rumors from time to time. ::yes:: :wave2:
