My neighbor we've vacationed with in the past is going the same time we are.... And pitched the idea to me to add 2 nights at the end of the trip at Vero Beach. Having never stayed dvc off wdw property... I'm kinda intrigued... Except I have no idea how easy/difficult it is to secure a studio at 7 months out for a weekend in July.

We were able to book an ocean view room for July at 7 months last year. I seem to remember a fair amount of availability. It’s a beautiful resort!

Ok thanks! I just didn't want to plan it out only to find out it's difficult to get that time of year.

It might be difficult, but you might be able to get two nights. We booked a three night trip there in 2001, but that was a looooooooooooooong time ago. And it was a Fri, Sat and Sun night. It was one and done for us.

I used to own there and LOVE the resort. I cannot say enough good about it.

That said, since we sold we have unsuccessfully tried to book cash rooms during the summer.

Well... It looks like we'll be doing a Friday to Friday in July at wdw either way..... And if we can tack on Friday and Saturday night at Vero I'll consider it a win.

As long as you are not talking about the July 4 weekend, you should have a decent chance for.a studio. Better, you should have a high probability of success if you choose to go with an inn room, which are majority of all rooms, and if you spend the extra points for an ocean view room, you can guarantee yourself an ocean view (it is only a request for the studios and to actually see just a partial ocean view with a studio you need to get higher floor).

We just did one night at SSR, 3 nights at Vero, and one night at AKL. I think I like your way better. Nice way to decompress after the craziness of the parks. If you have the points, consider a one bedroom at Vero. Since you might spend a little more time in your room (no parks) you might enjoy the extra space.

I booked at Vero for the summer at 7 months and had no trouble . Very beautiful and relaxing resort

If we plan to make a short trip to Vero after our WDW trip a semi-regular occurrence, is it worth it to buy 25 to 50 VB points instead of SSR? Trips would almost always be in the summer.

We have never actually been to Vero, but like the idea of relaxing at the beach for a few days after a week at the hecticness of WDW

You might want to rent a stay there for a few days before you attempt to buy a small number of VB points. We thought the beach was very narrow and the water very cold (we were there in early June several years ago). We prefer the Gulf Coast beaches much more than the Atlantic Coast beaches. So much at we moved to SW Florida, about 1.5 miles from the coast and beaches (couldn't afford a home on the beach). We also found the beach to be very dirty with debris. Hopefully, that issue has been resolved since we were there.
