I have never been to Vero before and my DH & I planned to spend a week 'child free' there in a few weeks while my father takes my kids for the week for a visit. Anyway, DH just found out that he has to cut our vacation short and go to Seattle for business halfway thru our vacation. So now I have to decide if I want to come home early or spend 2 days alone at Vero Beach. I have never traveled by myself anywhere before but I think I can handle it. What do you all think? I am nervous about being by myself. What would you do alone at Vero Beach? We have a OVIR so I also need to eat out. I don't know why that is bothering me but the thought of eating alone in a restaurant kind of terrifies me.....

I'd give it a try. You can always eat at Shutters down stairs in the Inn or order a pizza or something and have it delivered from Orchid Pizza. There is always Bleachers out by the pool too.
Enjoy the pool and/or beach and just relax with a good book.:thumbsup2

I just started traveling for work and have had to eat alone at a restaurant. At first it was awkward, now I like it. I bring a book or magazine and get to quietly eat my meal on my own - with two 8 year olds, how often does that happen! Or if I don't feel like sitting in a restaurant and want to be alone I get my meal and bring it back to the room and watch tv or read - again, how often does that alone time happen?!?! Or find some place nice outside to sit and eat.

Have a good trip!

Vero Beach is a wonderful resort to relax and unwind at. Having a few days to yourself may be a great experience and if you have never done it before, give it a shot, you may like it. :thumbsup2

I used to travel for work all the time, so eating alone became normal to me, so that doesn't bother me. Vero is one of the most relaxing places I've ever stayed. You don't really need to leave the resort if you don't want to, and if you do want to leave the resort, everything is a short drive away (movie theaters, restaurants, mall, etc.) It is a very comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Just being able to walk on the beach every morning is worth the stay. The food at Shutters is really good. Also, the bar upstairs has food that you can order. I think if you take the extra few days for yourself you will really enjoy it. Once you get there, you'll be glad you aren't cutting your stay short (believe me, everytime we go there I want to extend our stay longer).

Wow, what an opportunity to pamper yourself. Relax and enjoy some R&R before you return home to all of your work. I don't believe there's a spa at Vero, but I saw that are are spas nearby on another thread. You could always ask at the desk for any recommendations. Or I'd take a some books I never have time to read and sit on the balcony or at the pool and relax.

Are the points going to expire if you don't take the vacation? Then you are using them to their best advantage. If you really prefer to vacation with hubby or the whole family. Cancel the last few days and add them to another vacation in the future.
