The summer is quickly approaching and so is our trip to V.B. Do you think that our family of five (DS 16 and 13, DD 4) should follow a daily schedule or just wing it. I've never been to V.B. We are looking for a relaxing vacation. I am interested in your thoughts.

I would get an idea of what is available in the area and what might be of interest to your group. (Shopping, kayak trips, deep sea fishing, Kennedy Space Center, etc.) I don't think it's necessary to have a "schedule". Weather plays such a large part in how you might spend your day(s) that chances are you'll be "off schedule" anyway. ;) The restaurants at the resort might require reservations but for the rest of the area it's off-season and you'll probably be able to walk into more places (if they are open).

Relaxing is what Vero does best -- have a great trip.

I would get a travel book on the Vero Beach area and check out activities your older kids might be interested in.

We love Vero, but it's a pretty laid-back place. If the weather is rainy, it puts a damper on the biggest activities there...beach, pool, minigolf, tennis, etc.

So it's good to have a Plan B.

If you're looking for relaxing, VB is it:cool2:.
We recently (2002) joined DVC and we took our 1st (but not last) trip to VB last May.

IMO, I would make up an "if we're up for it" list of things to do and/or see. When we were there, I got a terrible sunburn (nice BIG blisters).:sunny: It laid me up for a day, so we weren't able to go see some of the things on our wish list.

Just go there and relax. I'm sure the children will enjoy the resort and surrounding area as much as you.

Have Fun!

We found that although there were lots of things to do, we relaxed and enjoyed ourselves. We did have a 'to-do' list, but we fell into the 'chill' mode and did things if and when we wanted to.

We were surprised by the heat on the beach (so went to the beach early and left mid-morning), spent much more time in the pool than planned, played mini golf, did the treasure hunt and he campfire.

We were there for 3 days - and did less than expected, but headed off to WDW much more refreshed than anticipated too!!

Enjoy.:sunny:
