:sad2: Did you try crying/sobbing?

That is a bummer. Hmmm... maybe one of your local TV station advocates could help... still have a little time.

I did get 3 adult tickets for Aug. 4th from my Congressman, FREE. Be persistent...when are you going? 6 mos. ahead is not too early to start the process. :goodvibes

Hello all!!!

We are extremely excited because we will be at VB 7/26 thru 8/1 and this is our first DVC vacation.

1) Does anyone know of an OVIR to request?

2) What is the best way to go about it?

We have been to WDW before and know that it is JUST a request!!!

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I tried back in the spring and was initially told "yes", then they were recanted. Apparently the newspaper article in the FL Today publication talked about how a certain large disney-related internet message board was flooding local gov offices for requests of free tickets. There is a big thread on this on the Budget boards. My congresswoman's office called me about 3x to explain why they took back the tickets (they said they ran out for the year). I don't buy that. I feel it was the newspaper article that made them go back on their promise of KSC tix. I had told my kids and everything they were going and then had to tell them we weren't. I was not and am not pleased at how the office of congresswoman Allyson Schwartz handled it. I never returned their phone calls because all they wanted to do was make excuses as to why they took them back (I still have the email assuring me I would get them) and then they offered that I could "go to the KSC website and PURCHASE tickets" ! Yeah----from a promise of "free" to "$300" !? Were they kidding ? Not even a discount. Not a happy camper about that whole issue
So good luck to you.....maybe you will fare better. I didn't....nor did alot of others. Here is the LONG thread about this whole thing on the Budget board :

Hi all!

We will be at VB from Aug. 22 - 25.
Do the Inn rooms all have a balcony or just the ocean views?

Thanks,
Ham Ham

Wow, I have to read these threads but I want to ask you, if I already have the letter that agrees to admission with all of our names on them, will we still get in free?

We were in room 3414 and the view was fantastic!

I don't know about requesting a specific room, but we did request top floor and that's what we got. :woohoo:

Our view while sitting down in the chairs on the balcony eating breakfast.

I have removed the references to the KSC passes since it seems they are no longer available for this year.

Not sure BWV Dreamin. Is this letter from your congressperson's office or KSC ? Here is a copy of the email I had on May 8 :
Dear Ms. Sims,

This email is in response to your message requesting information about obtaining discounted tickets to the Kennedy Space Center. I have been in contact with Sonya Queens, a congressional liaison at NASA, who informed me that we will be able to provide you with up to 10 tickets for admission at no cost. In order to process this request, the following information is needed:

Your name and phone number

# of adults

# of children (ages 3-11)

Date of the tour (the tickets will be good for 2 visits to the center within a 7 day timeframe)

Please respond to this email, or give me a call at the phone number listed below so I can submit your request for you.

Thank you,

Jackie

Jaclyn Sanna, District Representative

Representative Allyson Y. Schwartz

13th District of Pennsylvania

Then I got another confirmation from her office on May 15:
Maria,

I spoke Sonya Queen at NASA who informed me they will use the first date you provided (August 12), and that the tickets will be good for the following 6 days. I submitted your request to her today.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any remaining questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Jackie

Then the offer was rescinded on May 29 via a phone message on my answering machine.
So I'm not sure about your letter ? I had two emails confirming we were going to receive the tickets. Maybe you have something a bit more formal than that ? Wish I could help you more. I wish you all the best with this. Hopefully your experience will turn out more positive than mine.

MiaSRN62, here is what my letter says: From: National Areonautics and Space Administration, Office of Legislative Affairs (address follows). Has a date of April 29, 2008 To Faye P., Legistlative Assistant, Office of my Congressman. From Sonya Webb, Legistative and Analysts Division Then a message is on the paper stating Complimentary Maximum Access Tickets have been reserved for a tour of the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) Visitor Complex for:
Then it states my name and number of tickets and the date they are good for. Included in my letter is the aide's business card who set this up. So I am taking this as this is good for the tickets. Says the tickets can be picked up at the KSC Group Sales Office any time after 9:00a on the day of the tour. I don't see how I couldn't get the tickets with this letter so specific.

Hi BWV Dreamin....
It sure does sound like you did indeed get the admission. Congrats. I'm glad for you. It's nice to see that some were granted the passes.

Hey Mia, thanks for your great attention to our thread. I many times look up our thread and find that you have been working to help everyone.

I would like to suggest that this thread in 2009 be your thread. You are certainly a VB lover and seem to love helping people.... So, unless you tell me otherwise.. I will expect to see a VB Adoration thread 2009 sometime in the near future.... managed by MiaSRN62. From starbox to DisDaydreamer to MiaSRN62.... to.... well that's 2010 and up to you to decide...

:beach:

What a nice thing to say DisDaydreamer. Not sure I could ever fill starbox's or your shoes. I, by no means, feel like a VB expert. I know there are others that know more than I. I feel I've learned more from others than I've contributed on this thread. But I'll do my best to keep things going if everyone else is cool with that.

Yeah Mia!!! Thanks for keeping the thread going!!:goodvibes :thumbsup2

Call MS or email them the request for an "Ocean Facing" room.... preferably on the 4th floor, but ocean facing is most important.

Hi all,

Has anyone ever stayed in a Studio Room (non-ocean view)? What was it like? We're trying to book a last-minute August trip and were told the only availability they had was non-ocean view. Do you think we'd still enjoy our trip? How far away is the beach from these rooms? Thanks for any info!

Kendall
