Well, I wanted to post a trip report, but now with all domestic things taken care of and we are sitting out on our deck listening to the birds.. MB (Mary Beth) informs me she detected a lump in her breast while we were on vacation...

This has happened before, but this time she seems pretty concerned.

I am lost... I am trying to talk her into going to the doctor tomorrow...

She is suggesting like it is hormones, but she also is suggesting like it is not. The lump feels round (good).

MB and I have been together since we were 16 years old... we are 50 now and she is my only ever friend and first and only lover. I am hoping things will feel better tomorrow and I will post some things about our trip to VB.

:grouphug: You're doing the right thing by telling MB to go to the Dr. I hope things turn out ok.

Rob.....positive thoughts going out to you and MB. Hoping it is only a false alarm, but getting to a doctor is the best thing. I pray you'll be able to update us later on with some good news.

Wow JimMIA.....that's a tough one. I have no idea. But if it's not answered by the time we leave in August, I'll have to look into it.

Be strong Rob. Please insist she sees a doctor. You and your family are in my prayers!

I know I don't check in here often but wanted to send you my thoughts & prayers Rob. Please make sure she goes to the doctor.

Your and Mary Beth are in our thoughts and prayers, Rob.

It's been said before, but we can't say it enough -- get her to the doctor. It's probably okay, but don't take chances with something like that.

Our trip to VB was last week, Sunday to Wednesday. What a great time we had. The 3 DGC (3, 4 and 5yrs.) loved the slide by the pirate ship as well as the big one. DDiL had her moment in the sun when she came in 2nd on the slide race one day. The red ribbon is now her prized possession, except that her DS, 4 thinks it should be his!

I know people say don't stay in a 1 bedroom if you're not prepared to always do so...we'll that is definitely true of a Beach Cottage. 7 of us stayed in it, 1475, and the other 6 adults in our group were in 3 inn rooms. We had great get togethers at the cottage, ( DGS, called it a college!) there is definitely room for everyone, the views are spectacular and everything was in working order.

6 adults went over to the Turtle walk at night last Monday and were thrilled to see a loggerhead turtle lay her eggs. Best part was that it was early in the walk, we never expected the group to be home by 11, but they were. Only one DS was very badly bitten by mosquitoes, but even he wouldn't have missed the opportunity to see the wonder.

DGD was taken for strep throat/ear infection treatment on Tuesday...kids bounce back, but the illness did spread to the other two as well. It seems that in our group, some sort of medical trip is par for vacations.

The kids loved VB and the next time, we think we will start out at WDW and then rest here. The main problem is the points for a BC on weekends seem too high...we'll see, we have 150 VB points, and there are very few left in '09's UY!!! I just don't know how long we can wait before going back.

Hey thanks to all :grouphug: didn't mean to be a downer to the thread.

Bobbi, I tried to make a guess at which BC you were in, but nothing gave me any reals clues. Although, your cottage was the only one I saw (from the beach) any activity on the upper deck. I was also trying to pickup any clues to other DISmembers there, but pretty much was unsuccessful except I did get to meet Joan (mackeyapp) and her family. They were into the water like it was bath water. I guess things are generally cooler in Nova Scotia :rotfl:

I'll definitley have a TR and photos sometime today. :)

Bobbiwoz.....thanks for the report ! Sounded like a fantastic trip except for the kids' strep throat and ear infection. Beach Cottages must be heavenly to stay in----I've only toured them. But what a view ! :thumbsup2 :yay:

Rob....please don't ever feel that way. I'm sure I speak for us all when I say you can vent here any day.

If they want to drive 35-45 minutes north up A1A/US1 is Melbourne Beach/Indialantic and across the causeway Melbourne. Numerous old shops and cafes in Melbourne. Bizarros for Pizza. MooMoo's for Ice Cream Beachside.
I'll tell you.....we found even Melbourne quiet and low-key. Maybe not quite as much as Vero, but we went into town in Melbourne in Nov and found shops/restaurants closed early. Quaint little town though. We were there for 3 days while at a college open house for my dd. She's going to FL Tech. Maybe it's just slower in Nov ? We were actually driving around at 8-9 pm looking for something to do.......

My wife and I will be at SSR in a few days, with a car and almost NO "have to's" (a rarity). Both of us have been dying to check out VB before deciding to book it next year, and we were thinking of driving down and back on one of our days at WDW. We haven't seen the ocean in at least 5 years, and neither of us have ever been on the central east coast of FL, so it would be a completely new experience for us.

What are your thoughts? Would YOU think it would be a fun way to spend a day of our trip? I don't mind driving a bit, but do you think that there would be enough enjoyment in the drive and in exploring the resort and walking on the beach to make it worthwhile? Would the staff have any problems with DVC members exploring the grounds? Any specific suggestions on what we might do that would be low-key and fun? Thanks...

Sure I think it would be fun. You could ask a CM for a tour. I would call ahead to schedule. Even though you are not staying at the Hotel (and not suppossed to have priveleges) I bet that they would let you hang out... use the pool and spend some money! :-)

Prayers for Mary Beth, Rob. Please let us know an update when you know one. It is scary...my mom just got finished radiation treatments from BC and it is all unnerving!

Hi all!!!!

Just found this thread, not read all of the pages, but just wanted to say I am excited to be going to Vero Beach, as we are just closing on a VB DVC contract, so hoping our first visit 'home' will be January 2010. We are going to WDW in November this year, but that was all booked before we purchased these points, so we will have to wait to visit our home resort!

I am sure we will stay at VB each time we fly over from the UK, either tagging it before or after a WDW stop. It looks so peaceful and different to WDW - which we love, but it will mean a great relaxing bit to the vacation as well!!!  :cheer2:
