Just subscribed....we'll be at VB March 30-april 5th. Can't wait to have dinner at the ocean grill! It's been 5 years since our last visit..way too long

A few months ago I did a google map of some restaurants near VB. I just did a search of restaurants and put in the addresses. So no guarantees everything is correct.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!!

Just bumping this back up to the top, we have 5 days until we leave, we are going to stop in North Carolina and see the Grandparents before taking the princesses to St. Augustine for a few days, and then on to Vero.

Just wondering if anyone has been to St. Augustine and what might excite a 12, 9, and 6 year old. We are staying right downtown, but will have a car and can travel.

Nothing will compare to Vero, but we always try to get a little history and education into the vacation also, I guess that is how we justify taking them out of school for a week before spring break. When we go to Disney it is very easy to justify, we just tell the teachers that we will spend at least two to three days in Epcot studying world cultures.

I went as a 12 year old in 1982, but as I realize as I type this, that was a looooooooooong time ago, and I'd like to show the girls (9 & 7) if it's cool. Somebody told me it was like, 40 bux a person to get in!

We love St. Augustine. The Ghost Tours are fun for kids and adults, they include history plus you walk around in the dark! There are usually 2 a night, actually several different companies, we like the Ghost Tours of St. Augustine.

We went there once just to see the Wonder or the Magic and then we went back to ride the Wonder. I'm thinking maybe you're speaking more specifically of the Kennedy Space Center, which is $38 per person over the age of 12. I bit pricey, but you can make pretty much a day of it there.

We like going up there just to tour the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge.

The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, operated by Delaware North Companies at no taxpayer expense, is home to a number of museums, two IMAX theatres, and various bus tours allowing visitors a closer look at various restricted areas that would otherwise not be possible. Included in the base admission is tour-bus transportation into the restricted area to an observation gantry on the grounds of Launch Complex 39, and to the Apollo-Saturn V Center. The observation gantry provides unobstructed views of both launch pads and all of Kennedy Space Center property. Saint Augustine is one of my favorite places in Florida - with kids, I'd recommend touring the fort, the fountain of youth, the Flagler museum, and the Ripley's Believe It or Not museum. I remember thinking they were all super-neat even as an elementary school child.

Thanks for the information on St. Augustine, we are definately going to the Columbia for Lunch, I have been to the Ybor City, St. Armands Cirle and The Celebration locations and enjoy them very much. I am looking forward to the Fort and the Historical district also, it will be a great way to start our trip before we get to Vero.

We have 4 days until we leave and of course I have come down with a flu bug, hopefully it is just for 24 hours, but I really don't want to infect the rest of the family either. I think what I need is just some R & R on the beach, it can't come soon enough.

OMG... I am soo weird when it comes to experiencing... well... a rush... like coming down from the top of a wave.... Yes, I might get hurt, but the trip is worth it.

DW gets motion sickness pretty easy... so we don't do those kinds of things together.. She worships the sun and I worship the ocean (waves). Thankfully, we can live on the beach together.

We love Vero. Always stay in a Ocean View Inn room for the view. We love the ocean. Love the Disney's Vero Beach Resort. We love just walking the beach every morning. Spending the day sitting on the beach. Go back and spend some time in the pool. It's so relaxing and BEAUTIFUL. Geesshhh this is making me so wanting to be there!

Finally talked my DW into retirement on June 30th and have scheduled a long trip down to Florida. We'll be trying Vero Beach for the first time in October for 3 nights starting on the 15th. Then on to the BWV. This will be sandwiched between Hilton Head resort. Looking forward to trying Vero Beach and from the response on this thread I have a feeling there will be many future stays at this resort.

I know there are grills across the street from the resort, I can't remeber what it's called. 1000 acres or something Winnie the Pooh related. You can get there by using the tunnel that goes under A1A.

I've booked the night Turtle walk for 6 of our guests for Monday June 23rd! We're thrilled that we all will be there so they can take part in this event. Thank you DVC for the information on the web site!!

Disney's Vero Beach Resort Members and Guests can learn about endangered sea turtles from conservation experts this summer.

The Caribbean Conservation Corporation, the world's oldest non-profit sea turtle research and conservation group, will conduct special presentations and sea turtle walks at the nearby Archie Carr Wildlife Refuge, located 10 miles north of Disney's Vero Beach Resort.

As part of the experience, participants donate $20 for the first family member and $10 for each additional family member to "adopt" sea turtles. (Of course, this simply means participants will be able to track the turtles' progress. Nobody's taking the critters home.)
