VERO BEACH 2016 Information & Adoration Thread

We'll be there the 4th-11th. I called today and a few tidbits. Shutters closes for renovation the end of June. Last pirate dinner is the week of 13th. Building 14 isn't expected to be renovated until thanksgiving. She said way behind schedule. Some beac erosion after last years storms. Pool bar and food should stay open during shutters/Sonya renovation and changes.

Hope helpful....

We just got home May 10 from a 4 night stay. Member Golf is on Thursdays. They were working on one of the holes when we were there, so it was always free. Nice gesture considering we did not even know they were working on it. :)
My kids loved the family glow putt putt.
Thanks!

Is building 14 the first to be touched of the villas? Or do they mean the others will be done earlier and 14, as the last to be touched, will finally be done in November? Good to know the pool bar/food will be open through the summer.

For those renting a car....as of right now we're arriving at MCO on Sept 14th, driving to Vero Beach and staying until the 17th, leaving the 17 for Animal Kingdom Villas (Savanna View) for 2 nights and then 5 nights at Beach Club Villas. We're wait listed for the 17-19 at Vero Beach. I've been looking at prices for car rentals and found a huge price difference if you rent from Alamo or National and drop off on property as opposed to returning to MCO and taking the ME to your hotel. If I rent a compact car for 6 days from inside MCO and return to MCO it's $160. However if I rent from Alamo or National from MCO and return to Disney it's $450! That's a crazy price increase. April

We found the same thing for our August trip, it's actually cheaper to keep the car the extra two days and just bring it back to MCO when we're going home.

I have a Wizard membership with Avis. I priced picking up at MCO on 8-6 and returning on 8-12 and also priced picking up at WDW 8-7 and returning to MCO 8-12. It was cheaper for us to go with WDS pick up by $40. Paying $205 for a standard.

Wow..... Good information! Thanks! I called DVC today and asked if it would be a problem for us to take the ME to Animal Kingdom from MCO after our stay at Vero Beach and the CM member said it wasn't a problem at all as long as we had a reservation at a Disney resort. April

Quick update from beautiful Vero, great wind down from 3 nights Hard Rock Universal, 1 night Poly Villas, no parks. Just as we remember it 6 summers ago, so peaceful and relaxing. Took walk past bubuilding 15 twice, closed, supposedly doing renovation, but didn't see any workers at all, very quiet. Ate dinner Shutters one night very good, Riverside Cafe on river, great sunset outdoor seating with boat dock, seafood great! Lemon Tree, 2 had lunch, one had late breakfast, delicious! About one and a half hour from MCO, even with rush hour easy ride. Great little breakfast/sub sandwich place and pizza place right by public beach. From campfire, little path leads there with resort key. For those coming, ENJOY!:beach:

One more thought to add.If you did a split stay at WDW, If you pay for or have refillable mugs from a dining plan from WDW, SAVE receipt, bring it with your refillable mugs from WDW and Vero will activate the mugs! I read I believe last year that they do the same at HHI! Mugs sure come in handy with the hot weather!:beach:

Guest key card access going down boardwalk to beach and coming back up to beach was not functioning the entire time we were at Vero. Reported three different times to 3 different people, not remedied.:scared1: Yesterday, Sat of Memorial Day weekend it was clear that some who were not guests of resort used beach then walked up boardwalk due to non functioning gates, then purposely waited by pool gate till someone opened it. Made for getting loungers Saturday by pool more difficult than it should have been. Fix the gates to beach to restrict access to guests only!:scared1: Don't UNDERSTAND! Universal Hard Rock has staff at pool checking resort room keys, which is a great policy imo!:goodvibes

Scampi Grill is rated #2 on Trip Advisors for a reason! WOW! OUTSTANDING Italian cuisine! :thumbsup2 :cheer2:Two of us had Veal Piccatta, Veal Pizzaiola, Penne Bolognese. Huge portions, veal so tender.Make a reservation in advance, crowded.

We'll try this for sure in July!

Sounds yummy!
Thanks for posting while you are there :thanks:
What type of rooms do you have for this trip?
We will arrive in 26 days and cannot wait!!!

Does VB let you take your own chairs to the beach? Rather than spend $20 or so a day I want to get some cheap chairs from Walgreens/CVS.
My 2nd question is: if we can do this is there a place to leave items for other guests? I figure nearly every guest will buy beach gear and not want to take it home on the plane. I would rather donate it for other guests to enjoy instead of trashing it.

We had a 1 BR villa. No villas are renovated yet in any buildings. Villa was very clean, CM's were very pleasant, very relaxing resort, rip tide flag, red, but we didn't go out far at all, ocean water was great, can't wait to return when villas are all renovated, will probably be fabulous! ENJOY your trip!:goodvibes

Closest to property is a CVS and Publix. Have read that many buy chairs and umbrellas instead of renting. Perhaps you can ask the CM's at Ebb and Flos Rentals right by the pool(the place where you exchange pool/beach towels) for any procedures that may be in place for leaving beach chairs. ENJOY!

Many people purchase them and leave them near the elevators in the parking garage for other guests once they leave. Sometimes on the Facebook page people will let others know when they are leaving them. Just don't leave them near the beach, nesting sea turtles have been know to get hooked on them, drag them into the water and drown

We got here Sunday. Got a 1 br in building 12, my favorite building. Gave us a handicapped room but neither my wife nor I are handicapped. I don't care for the handicapped amenities in this room but I realize some people need it. If that's my only gripe for this trip, I'm very blessed. This is our 20th Memorial Day at DVBR and it is by far the least crowded I've seen it. The pool deck was only about half full yesterday. I guess with all the rooms being renovated there are fewer people able to book. Glad I booked 11 months out. Ate at Shutters last night and it was very good. The pirate dinner/dance party was moved to the Seagrape Room. Weather has been beautiful so far, but hot and humid. Being from Alabama, I feel right at home.
