We just returned from a 10-day trip to Vero Beach and the Beach Club Villas.
We had a great time - 80's everyday and sunny. We found a great Italian place
to eat at Vero called Monte's Italian Restaurant. It's located on Ocean Drive. The
selection was excellent, the servings were huge and tasty, and the cost reasonable.
We also attended a play "Anything Goes" at the Riverside Theater which was very good.
Then we moved onto the Beach Club Villas. We were there last November and saw
the alligator several times. However this time no sightings.
Does anyone know what happened to the alligator in the canal at the BCV ?
The highlight of this part of the trip was the Annual Passholder event at MGM.
After hours AP holders could ride Tower of Terror and Rock n' Roller Coaster
as much as you wanted for 2 hours. Plus there was a DJ in the Beauty and the Beast
theater. We went on Friday, March 14th and I would say there were no more than 300
in attendance. It was alot of fun.

Next on to Hilton Head in the fall.

Did you have fun at VB?

It sounds like you had a pretty good time everywhere. :D

I'd love to hear more details of what you did at VB.

Thanks for the report, tiggertoo!

We love Vero! Thanks for the restaurant recommendation - we've heard of so many good ones on this board!

I haven't seen the gator, myself, since last fall. There had been talk of them "relocating him" to another area of WDW property due to his increasing growth - maybe that's what happened...

Enjoy your time in HH - isn't DVC great?!?

Sounds like you had a great time! Haven't been to VB yet, but plan to some day.

I will be at BCV in 9 days, I will look for my friend Alley. He was kind of like a pet last October. We would go over to the railing and tap on the railing and he would come swimming over. I am sure he was looking for food since a lot of people were feeding him. We did not feed him, but I was pretty sure that is why he would come out anytime anyone came to the railing.

I saw the alligator in Dec, but when I returned in Feb, it was not around at all. (I was there for two weeks and kept looking, but saw nothing except some fish.)

We saw him last Sept.
Just hanging out with a turtle.

At that time he didn't seem intersted in people or looking for handouts at all.

Oh man! :( I did not know about the Gator. I kept letting my kids go down by the canal. I guess they could have made a real nice meal for that reptile. Oh well, another piece of free entertainment that goes along with your DVC membership! :)

danicaw, great picture!
heh, so alligators get along peacefully w/ turtles? they don't eat them? :p

btw, i can't believe people have fed the alligator. that's horrible and really thoughtless, 'cause i thought that makes them stop fearing humans. either that, or they associate humans with food, which is a really bad thing!

I completely agree, it is not a smart move. Of course, you, no doubt, have observed people not heeding the "do not feed the birds" signs at the parks, right? This should not be a big surprise.

I'm pretty sure I heard they did move him. If an alligator is coming over to guests looking for handouts that is a real bad thing and spells the end for his stay.

We stayed at BCV Feb 15-25 and did get to see Ally once one morning. Just sitting in the middle of the canal, floating around enjoying the Florida sunshine.

When we were there in December, "Chomper" was making his way back and forth along the canel. The CM's around there said they wouldn't bother moving him/her. If they did, another alligator was sure to move right in. Hmmm....we all enjoyed seeing him there and would be disappointed if he's gone. Although, I agree, we did not feed him but watch as one family fed him donut holes.
