Has anyone gone to a Verizon store to buy a phone at full price. Looking to buy a new phone to keep my unlimited data. Their website will not let you order a phone at full price you have to pick a plan. I have read that Verizon stores will not left you buy a phone at full price, you have to get it with a contract. Just wanted to know if this was true. Thanks.

going to a store will not help either, they will make you pick a new package. Your best bet would be to try and purchase something from a 3rd party or a personal seller. eBay, Craigs List etc.

Best buy charges so much more for no contract phones. I am worried about getting ripped off on ebay, like if the phone is stolen.

Take a look at swappa. It's a pretty safe way to buy a used phone.

I just gave up my unlimited data with Verizon because I desperately needed a new phone.

I am getting 6 GB for the same price as 2 GB since I was one of the ones supposed to be grandfathered in.

Ive tracked my data usage for a while now and never come close to even using 2 Gb let alone 6.

Supposedly you can purchase a phone at BestBuy.com (must be done online). Take the sim card out of your current phone and put in your new phone before activating the new phone(cut up the "new phone" sim card) and you will still have your unlimited data package.

Problem with that is my old phone does not have a sim card that I am aware of. Maybe I should give up my unlimited data.

We were supposed to be grandfathered in also but of course that didn't work out...but we don't use as much data as I thought so it's worked out fine. I would track the data you've been using monthly to see if it's really worth paying full price vs. your data usage.

Everywhere will charge so much more for no contract phones - very rare does a phone go on sale that does not include a full contract.

If you do decide to go the full price route I would suggest going through a third party like Best Buy or Target because they are 10x less likely to hassle you into another contract - but I doubt they won't let you buy a new phone at full price at the Verizon store. I'm sure plenty of people go in there trying to replace a broken phone but have to pay full price because it wasn't under warranty and they are still in their contract.

Be warned you'll be charged an activation fee whether you activate it in a Verizon store or a third party.

We gave up our unlimited data today. About an hour ago- actually. Both of our phones are in desperate need of replacement, and we realized we still don't use THAT much data (under 4GB per month, and I stream a lot of music) Our new bill will be the same price.

If you are set on not giving up your unlimited, I believe that you can buy a phone direct from Apple for full price.

I paid full price for my Samsung at the Verizon store last year, about $700. I wanted my unlimited data (didn't matter to me if I needed it, I just wanted it), also I didn't want to sign a contract. At the time, the phone would have cost me $200 to go under contract. I figured the $500 difference divided by maybe 24 months of usage, was only about $20 per month. I can afford an extra $20 a month. It has worked great for me, and I plan to do the same thing again.
I was not charged an activation fee.

Verizon doesn't have SIM cards. You could just go to the Apple store and buy a phone full price, then switch it out.

I'm lost. I just switched out a sim in a Verizon iphone 5 for my employer. The verizon iPhone 4 didn't have a sim but verizon does have SIM cards.

Verzion does have SIM CARDS I have one in my phone and had to get one for my niece when I loaned her my old phone.

I went round and round with verizon the last time I got a new phone. I ended up with a new 2g plan I was MAD. How dare they fence me in?! Lol

At some point, verizon upgraded that to a 3g plan.

I've gone over only once in the entire two years, and that was a month I moved across the country and used the phone for normal stuff, plus lots of gps, plus streaming a few hours (around 5) of shows, plus I didn't have Internet hooked up at the new house for around a week. I went over by about 0.25g. In fact, I average like 0.75g a month on a normal basis. So unless you stream a heck of a lot of music or video, you will probably be okay.

Verizon iPhones like iPhone 5 and newer have sim cards. They are not interchangeable w/AT&T however.
