Verizon buying Disney???

Iger keeps extending his retirement date and he just cashed in 80 million in stock options, maybe there is something to the Verizon rumor?

I wonder what that would do to the DVC?

I hope it's not true - Verizon probably mostly wants the content. I don't think they would be very good theme park managers & would worry about them lowering the investment in the parks.

No idea what they would make of DVC. Wouldn't surprise me if they just sold that portion of the Company.

I wouldn't be too worried about it. Verizon doesn't have the cash to buy out Disney. At&T is finalizing the Time Warner deal, so Verizon has to 'one up' them.
Merger? Transfer of some operations? Maybe....

On the one hand, I think it is unlikely. On the other hand, if Verizon made an offer that was good enough, the board would have to consider it. At this point other bidders might emerge. Apple has been mentioned as a potential acquirer of Disney, for example.

Always thought it would of been other way around Disney buying out verizon in all honesty. with verizon's recent acquirement of yahoo/AOL seems like someone might stop this as getting a bit to big for their britches?

Yahoo was a tire fire. VZW got it for less than $5B. DIS market cap is something like $170B. This Barron's article has the following to say:

Wells Fargo media analyst Marci Ryvicker flat out rejected the possibility of a Verizon-Disney deal. “When we saw this latest ‘news’ of Verizon looking to buy Disney, we laughed. Out loud. In fact, we’re still laughing,” she wrote in a note to clients Monday afternoon.​

If anything, I think it would be a merger. Disney's market cap is $167 billion and Verizon's $183 billion. I assume there would be at least some premium paid on the Disney stock. Verizon just doesn't have the resources for that.
