Vera Bradley Bags For Traveling

I haven't ever been but have heard that there isn't as much to choose from on the 3rd day but the prices are dramatically better on the 3rd day compared to the other two.

Maybe I'll have to take May 1 off work instead :)

Anyone know anything about pricing. 50% off? 75% off? Does it depend what you're buying?

In addition to my addiction of all things Disney, I am also addicted to Vera Bradley bags. If you haven't heard of these before, she has a website and you can also find her stuff on eBay. Anyway, to get to my point, with my cruise coming up in a few months, I am beginning to find reasons to buy new bags for the trip. I already have a case for my laptop and my digital camera. Also thinking about purchasing a little travel case for toiletries, a travel organizer to hold my ID, passport and tickets. And I even want to bring some DVD's...so I want to buy a CD/DVD case to put them in.

Anyone else addicted to anything other than Disney? How about Vera Bradley? I know I can't be the only one. DH hates her stuff...says it must be a girl thing :)

ME too! In the airport at Christmas they were everywhere. My DD's got back packs for Christmas.

Have any of you gone to the big sale they have in the spring in Fort Wayne? I missed last year due to work but went the 2 previous years. They have it in the Memorial Colesium and the lines to get in stretch and wind through the place!!! When you finally get in people are handed a huge bag (picture black garbage bag size) to fill up, tables are pretty well organized and by the time I get in there are women sitting around on the floor on the edges sorting through everything they grabbed in their mad dash. It's totally mind blowing :scared1: Then the trading starts with people walking around looking for something specific. The sorters on the floor rethink 1/2 the stuff they grabbed and what they don't want they toss in shopping carts or big laundry carts. Then these get mobbed by the latecomers that can't find exactly what they want. Then the poor sorters that work the sale try to take the carts out of site to organize and restock the items.

They set a dollar limit as to how much you can buy because they want to avoid resale on Ebay. But of course when you see a person walk out ahead of you that literally has 13 bags and a couple of boxes on a wheeled cart you can bet they are going to resell the stuff. I have sold a few things but only things I have had left after using most of gifts.

Vera has a new building in Fort Wayne just off I69 across from the GM Plant, so if you're driving south it will be on your right.

This year's sale will be April 30-May 3rd. Hope I see you there! :yay:

So your one of the CRAZY ladies my dad gets to see every year. He is one of the "red coats" at the coliseum. He does say that he has met some of the nicest people at this sale. There is a couple that comes all the way from TX for this sale. They bring a u-haul style trailer and get orders from all their friends and family. They go to several different sessions and max out their allowed purchaes. There are several group that Dad has gotten to know of the last 7 years. The one group comes up from Ossian IN and they always bring him Heyerly's doughnuts. Dad said that the ultra-crazies comes in large groups and they have pairs set up. Each pair had a section to go to. They each stuff bags with the itmes from their section, getting several different colors. Then they all meet up along the wall and sort out and match up who wanted what. If they missed an item, so one had to go back into the masses and get it. What they end up not wanting, dumping into the restock carts.

I think it was 3 years ago, they had a lady waiting in the line for the first day sale that was in FULL ACTIVE LABOR. She was not leaving until she got her shopping done. Once her group was in line to pay, did she let them call her an ambulance to get her to Parkview. That there is a serious addiction.

I have never been to the sale, but plan on it this year. DD needs a bag for all her dance gear and you can't beat the prices during the sale. I only have two pieces of VB and it is stuff dad was given the last day of the sale.

I know last year they changed how they do the sale. They shortened it by a day and something with the amount you could purchase. One of the ladies from baseball works for VB now, I just might have to give her a call and find out what they are changing for this year.

What are the prices like....road trip!

What are the prices like....road trip!

I'm definitely interested to know what the prices are like...

It's only about a 2 hour trip for me, so I'm there either way. Just want to know if I will only grab a few pieces or if I need to drive a van? lol

Another fan of VB!!! I just got the small and large Java Blue Duffels in the mail yesterday!!!! Java Blue is my fav!

Searched google and found a post about the Vera Bradley outlet sale on another forum.

Some guy said his wife bought $500 worth of stuff for ONLY $125! That's insane!

Another big fan checking in! The Kensington is my favorite this winter. I also love the Botanical for the summer. Thanksfully, I only like one color (yellowbird) out of the new Jan 08, colors so it won't be too hard on my checkbook!

Don't take these as set in stone, I am trying to remember from the conversations after last years sale. My one friend had gone and I was asking about a garmet bag and the large duffel. She also told me what she had paid for the items she had gotten.

The prices area she gave me compared to what VB's website is showing as suggested retail price:

garmet bag - $130.00, could get for $55-65.
large duffel - $80.00, could get for $25-35.
Katie (it's a small purse she got for her DD) - $27.00 - got for $12.00
large backpack - $90.00, could get for $35-45
pocket wallet - $25.00, could get for $7.50
coin purse - $14.00, could get for $3.50

The last two I know those are the prices on the last day of the sale, cause these are what dad got and he remembered the prices.

This sale draws thousands of women. There are women who schedule vacation days to be off and get there on the first day. It is crazy nuts at the coliseum on these days. The tickets for the open day are HIGHLY desireable.

Now...if only I could get tickets for opening day...

How do you get THOSE? :snooty:

Hello, my name is Nikki and I am addicted to Vera Bradley!!LOL:lmao:
To say I love these bags is an understatement! I have everything from PJ pants, belts, purses, wallets, umbrellas, to the rolling luggage! My DH supports my habit too! He called me from the store the other day to tell me the new bags were out! I went today to check them out and I'm loving the new tall zip tote. I'm just not sure which pattern I like from the new ones. I would also love to know how to get tickets to the sale in the spring on the first day! I would love to go. I do remember seeing them on sale on Ebay.

As luck would have it, I received, just today, the Cambridge Villager, new with tags, I won on ebay. I have a Java Blue small tic tac tote from last summer that I bought at the mall...I paid a few dollars less for the Villager. I also have the Nantucket Navy wallet with strap. I had never really "done" ebay before....MY GOD....it could easily become addicting. I did buy from a reputable seller.

I am taking the Villager to Bermuda in August and now I think I might need the mini hipster as well. Poor DH.:rotfl:

Well, there you have it.....I'm off to find an auction!:rotfl:

I think I still have my old price list or at least my reciept from 2 years ago that has the prices. I'll look Saturday for that and repost if I find it. I would so not advice anyone wait for the last day because there were complaints about it all being picked over.

The actual first day I think tickets are only given to corporate sponsors. DH's aunt is a bank VP and she gotten tickets a few times. I went on the first public day and had bought my tickets online. Seems like the day I went my friend and I paid $17 but you recoup that buying one bag. Not to mention the sale profits from the tickets went to the foundation.

I plan on going on the 3rd day instead of the last. Hopefully there will be good discounts and not COMPLETELY picked over. I'm not very concerned about selection. I like most of the patterns and styles. I'm more concerned with discounts :)

I feel so sorry for the little kids being pulled around or the ones in strollers that have stuff piled on them or get pushed into a crowd of people. :sad2: But do bring lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I'm going to highly recommend the Mini Hipster for Disney. I was a little skeptical but bought one for my December trip with my mom and sisters. We each had one in a different pattern.

I have used Coach, Baggalini, and a Fossil "wallet on string" type of bag. Vera's Mini Hipster wins hands down. It has a window credit card slot for photo/license, 4 other slots for cards (or tickets ;) ), a zip pocket for valuables, and more space. Can you tell I loved it??!!
