Asking for my Mom so forgive me if I get some information wrong. She's looking to buy 2 plane tickets (she and my dad). She has roughly 20K Venture pts. She says she just books the ticket, calls them and they somehow magically trade the money for points (her words, not mine)?

Anyway, she also has a credit from SW due to some lost (and never found) luggage.

Is there a way for her to book both tickets together using both the Venture points AND the SW credit?

(I told her to just book them separately and she seems ok with that but then figured the budget board people - the smartest people I know :) might know a different answer).

Thanks!

I use the Venture card.

If mom has 20k points that is $200 worth of travel "free".

What I do is just log into my account and it shows travel related items and you could apply the points to that charge. I don't know about calling up because I always do it online. It has to be in a travel category though to get a $200 value for the points.

I have had Southwest credits in the past and when you are online with southwest booking your fare you just choose the option that is something like apply credit and you get the credit that way against your fare. So then if your fare is $200 and you have $50 in credit, only $150 is put onto your card. You could in return go and remove that $150 with the points she has.

It sounds complicated but it is super easy. But I do it all online, not sure about calling up.

I love how you say "her words, not mine".:rotfl2:It does seem strange but that is how the awesome Venture card works. Magic.:wizard: I just used mine to cover my car rental and pre cruise hotel night.

As the PP said, apply the SW credit and then she pays for the rest with the Venture card. She can log into Capital One a couple of days later and "Poof" she can get credit for the plane ticket.
