Everytime I ask my brother if he would like to comeover for dinner seems he has to go somewhere with his GF for her friends. My dad is 85 and I do the dinners on Sundays for him. I don't work on Sundays. When my father passes away I will NOT ask him over, as a matter of fact I will not have a brother. I think he has all his priorities mixed up. I am not doing Easter dinner and have to think of a way to get out of it. I might just be sick the closer easter gets. Seems my dad cant have a holiday without his son, well I can. I am going to be 46 this yr and I am sick and tired f people coming over to eat when they feel like it, not when I feel like cooking. I am pissed..

Gail -I so sorry - :( I hope you have a nice Easter.
Inconsiderate people are the worst and when its family - ARRRG!!

I am so sorry Gail. I have learned a long time ago that family can be the most inconsiderate people. For our holiday gatherings now we invite just as many friends as family. It evens the mix and I'm not usually so stressed when the day is over. {{{{HUGS}}}} to you Gail.

Sorry you are pissed, Gail. Maybe as Easter comes closer, it may get better and he will acquiesce.

Gail, I know how you feel..... and I have not found a solution yet... if I do I will let you know. ;) Meanwhile, try to enjoy the holidays, life is too short.

BTW, Dan.... you have me ROFL by using "pissed" and "acquiesce" in the same post. LOL

I don't know..... it just struck me as funny!!!:D :) :D :)

Gail,

I know exactly how you feel because at soon to be 46 I have a brother, but haven't seen him since my mom died. The only difference is I wrote him off the year before she got sick and with her blessing. I told him that I refused to be hurt the way he hurt my Grandmother and my Mother. That didn't wake him up enough to even be a good son the following year when his mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. He's the male of the family, he's the first born, he's the one with the Master's degree and yet he is the one with no common sense.

My last words to him were that I hope his girls never grow up and treat him the way he treated her.

Luckily I have a wonderful DH and I get along pretty good with his family (who were very good to my mom when she was alive). I have that to be thankful for. In my eyes he's missing much more than I am.

WDWLVR, are you sure you are not my long lost sister. sounds like we had the same brother right down to the masters degree. :D

Wow I can totally relate. I have the same type of brother. Very selfish and does only what he would consider to be worthy. Let it go and move on. Don't stress about the holidays.
