I am so angry right now! DS had his first appointment for ADHD screening today, or should I say he was supposed to have his first appointment today, after I tried for a whole month to schedule it. I pulled DS out of school early and DH took off early so we could attend this appointment together, we drove one hour in a snow storm (we never get snow here) only to arrive at the appointed time and have them tell us "sorry, the doctor is out sick today." My response was why didn't someone call us, "well someone tried your cell phone at 8:30 and left a message." I told her first of all it is impossible to leave a message on my cell phone and that if they really tried then they would have gotten a recording that stated the phone was off and to try again later. That aside I asked why no one called me at home or my husband at work (all this information was on file), her response, gee, I don't know. I was home until noon, my cell phone went on as I walked out the door and DH was at work until noon, so if they had called one of us would have been reached.

I am steaming, two hours driving round trip (which is a half a tank of gas and our gas is rationed over here), $6.00 in tolls, a 1/2 a day of from school, 1/2 a day of missed work for DH and now we have to reschedule and do it all again because of some silly little clerk who just didn't care!

That is ridiculous, and SO unfprofessional! I think I would seriously look into finding another doctor.

I'd talk to her supervisor. Sounds like she just didnt want to take the time to try to reach you. I used to be a supervisor at an Imaging facility and we called ALL numbers we had for pts and called them several times to try our best to catch the pts incase something had happened and they would be unable to have their appt. Sounds like she is just lazy and just wanted to be able to say she made "a call".

I'd also be angry. I've had that happen with a doc appt for dd before but we are only 5 minutes away. I can't imagine if it would have been farther and I was mad then. I had no right to be mad....YOU have a right to be mad!!!! MAN...

I would talk to the DOC or office manager and tell them how UNprofessional the office folk are. Ask what the standing policy is. Maybe she isn't doing her job. If she did it to you she probably does it alot.

I did complain once about a pediatric receptionist. She was FIRED. (She was a blank on wheels who was as mean as a hornet.) It does work sometimes.

Wish I could....it is a military facility. It is our only choice unless we went to an Italian speaking doctor and that is not an option.

Since it is a military facility no one can be fired, but hopefully she can be reprimanded so it doesn't happen again. I just finished typing my complaint, it is signed and sealed, all that is left is for me to pop it in the mail tomorrow.
