Vent: Please don't stand up on the rides

When I worked grad nights at Fantasyland I had to CONSTANTLY turn off the tea cups mid ride & they would get mad. Teenagers would stand or put their legs out of cup. Safety people! It never failed that every time I worked tea cups at grad nite I would have to talk loudly in my stern Disney voice

...We of course missed Soarin as it was closed and missed being able to take a boat back to the BWI where we were parked (in valet). So we had to go out front wait 20 minutes for a bus to BWI (which also went to DHS, BC, and YC before BWI) then to our car and back to our resort. It was not a good way to end the night.

Why didn't you just walk to BWI from the International Gateway? It would have taken about five minutes.

TTA or whatever they're calling it these days is the WORST with that. Luckily they don't stop the ride, but it seems like every time I'm on it, some idiot group of teens starts standing up on the ride and dancing around, and the CMs are constantly on the speakers telling them to stop.

Why didn't you just walk to BWI from the International Gateway? It would have taken about five minutes.

It may have been late enough that they didn't want people walking through the WS area.
It's a lot longer than 5 mins from Soarin' to the Gateway..more like 15 or so.

Part of me is oddly fascinated with stories of people exiting rides while they're running. I think it's because I just can't even imagine a good reason for doing it. And in some cases (like PotC) I can't imagine wanting to be in that water. I would love to find out why people do these things.

The person didn't go in the water, he jumped onto one of the floors. There are a few areas where the boats get close enough.

I think people are too stupid to realise they have cameras.

We really were that low. We had just come out of the loading area and hadn't even gone up the ramp. I could have hopped down and reached up and grabbed my son.

So frustrating.

At Disneyland once, we had a ride stop on Roger Rabbit. I believe we were one car away from the door you go through to the offloading area of the ride. They insisted that we stay in our seats and we would be escorted. They started at the *beginning* of the ride. So we were almost the last people escorted out, through the doors that had been staring us in the face for all that time. ("all that time" felt like hours, because there was a borderline abusive father behind us in the car with his daughter who wanted nothing more in the world than to be in the car behind them with her mother...just crying from her and screaming from him with threats of physical harm to come to her if she didn't calm down...so I can't trust my senses on how long it took)

Completely agree. Bugs me when people automatically assume that the ride they were stopped on "broke down" and then giant-leap to the conclusion Disney is going downhill. People are going downhill. Somebody fix that please.

I so agree. "Such-and-such ride broke down and I had to wait fifteen minutes so Disney sucks". Getting tired of that crap quickly.

Had my mother-in-law, stepmother, and dad all be forced to leave Ellen's Energy Adventure because someone decided to leave the vehicle. It takes a long time to gear that baby back up again. My stepmother is the youngest at the age of 70, my dad is in a wheelchair. Not the best situation and my relatives didn't really understand it. They had to go back to enjoy the attraction but didn't get why they were forced to leave in the first place. I explained things to them and this was after someone on this board complained because she was yelled at for taking her child off the same attraction because the child needed the bathroom. After everyone was already seated. So even Dissers can be stupid.

So true! My boyfriends brother is like this. Let's just say he is not my favorite person in the world. Once we were on Splash Mountain and he had been drinking and stood up on the climb to the big drop. The guy is 6'7 so it was not like they weren't going to notice. We were right by some type of door and a CM came out and yelled at him and he sat down. They didn't stop the ride or anything. Luckily our group was big enough there was no one else in the log with us. I was so embarrassed. And I'm sure he would do it again because he is just like that.

We were on POTC last year and sitting in the last row. In front of us were three teenage girls who kept standing up and messing around. Their parents were in the first row, and I'm sure realized what the girls were doing and yet said nothing to their daughters the entire time. Finally, I told them to sit down and not stand up again - and they didn't. Frustrating to have admonish other people's children, especially when the parents are right there!

It amazes me how stupid people can act at parks, like they don't bring common sense with them.

A local waterpark had to put up a list of rules on a sign at the entrance because of that. The sign says:
1. Do not go into restricted areas
2. Listen to the life guards
3. No whistles allowed in the park
4. Do not throw shoes or other items
5. Adhere to safety policies on rides

I thought it was sad the park had to list those rules in the first place because they are all obvious.
