Vent: Please don't stand up on the rides

Moving this to community as it is not serving any purpose to trip planning.

I wish someone would ask these people to explain what goes through their minds when they decided to stand up in a ride while it's in motion? What are they trying to accomplish? What do they think will happen? Especially on something like Barnstormer or Space Mountain?

Sometimes it's the parents. We saw a young boy completely stand up on the side railing of the train in MK. It was stopped at the time but that was still quite a fall if he slipped. A CM hollered at him to get down and stay off the railing while the parents sat there with indifference. We decided to get off because he started to climb right back up there when the CM moved on and it was nerve-wracking to watch.

Yeah, that accounts for a lot of it. My teacher friends tell me that they're having to deal with a whole generation of kids who, prior to entering school, had never once been made to sit down through a whole meal, a church service, a movie, a storytime, or for any reason at all. They'd spent their first five years being able to run and climb on whatever, wherever, and whenever the whim struck them, with their parents never making any attempt to teach them anything else.

It's really frustrating for the teachers, who have to spend as much time just getting the kids to understand how "following instructions" works as they do teaching. It takes a few kids several years of being in school before they realize that it's not always OK to get up and wander around whenever you feel like it.

They want to be cool. They want attention. They want approval. They want the rush and then potentially not get caught.

Basically, their foresight isn't working.

It is inconsiderate of people to stand on rides as it usually results in a stoppage of varying time and as others have mentioned it is potentially dangerous. It is my opinion based on my own visits to WDW and experiences at WDW over the years that certain people now in this day and age seem to be more willing to disobey posted rules and more willing to disregard or respect other people when it comes to such matters. I can't for the life of me imagine why this is so??? :confused3 (;))
