Oh my! I'm so annoyed right now, I could scream. :headache:

My husband and I bought new dining room furniture at the beginning of January, and it was delivered this Saturday. After going over all of it, we noticed that the corner of the table has a noticable crack and there is also a knick of the front of the buffet. I called store as soon as it opened, and they told me I had to call the delivery number. I called the delivery number, and spoke with a lady who was no help. She didn't even appoligize that the furniture arrived damaged. She told me they could send a repairmen out later this week. I asked if I could get a discount because I purchased new, undamaged furniture, not repaired furniture. She said that maybe I could talk to a manager if I was unhappy with the repair. I asked to speak to a manager right then.

Of course, she just sent me to voicemail. I didn't call back on Saturday afternoon because I was giving the store the benefit of the doubt. I've called twice this morning (at 9:30 and 11:00), and my call went straight to voicemail both times. I left polite messages, but no one has called me back.

I'm so frustrated right now. 1) the furniture should have arrived in perfect, new condition and 2) I want this situation corrected ASAP. I don't want to leave endless messages and not have anyone call me back. Right now, I almost just want them to pick up the stuff and refund me my money, because I don't feel like giving money to a store that treats their customers so poorly.

Well, thanks for listening. I just needed to rant.

It sounds like the store reps are passing the buck to the delivery people. :( Not good. I would probably go to the furniture store in person and speak with the manager. You don't want a lot of time to pass. The clock is ticking once the furniture has been delivered. After a certain amount of time has passed (it's usually on the invoice or purchase papers somewhere in the fine print), it's considered "accepted".

If the manager isn't helpful, go further up the chain. Good luck with it. I know it's frustrating.

We went through the same thing with our new coffee/side table set. They arrived and one of the side tables had HUGE stain spots on it. Looked like the stain just dropped on it and they didn't do anything.

They sent a repairman (why, I don't know. It was a stain that they had shellacked over. There was no fixing it). He took one look at it and said "I can't fix that."(duh). So they sent a new table top. Opened it up and it looked worse than the first one! It had brush marks all over!

The third top was OK. Between the first delivery and the final fix it was another 6 weeks.

ITA. Go to the store in person and speak to the manager. Is there any way you can stop payment on your check, call the credit card company,or hold up their payment until you get satisfaction?

So sorry you are going through this. :sad2:

You shouldn't have "repaired" furniture - you should get brand new replacements!

Take pictures of the damaged furniture and go see the manager, in person. I would not allow them to repair what is suppose to be new furniture.

If the manager does not replace the damaged furniture, with new, I would file a small claims in your local clerk of court's office.

(I would also make a small mark underneath the damaged furniture somewhere so, if the furniture co takes the damaged furniture away and then returns with "new" furniture, you will be able to tell it was the old furniture that they only repaired! If you do this, make sure to take a picture of the mark you made underneath!)

We had a similar issue with a new couch a couple of years ago.

I dont recall exactly what was wrong with it, but it was something noticable and they wanted to 'repair' it 1st and then blamed the delivery drivers. I said nope to repairing and that I didnt care whos fault it was, that I had purchased new furniture that should be in perfect condition when it showed up at my house. They gave me a little grief, but finally agreed to exchange it.

OK, someone called me back, and she was very nice. She is going to send someone out to look at it on Wednesday to verify the damage, and then she said they will most likely get me new furniture. No mention of repairing it at all.

I told her that was fine, and that the person I talked to on Saturday morning told me that I would have to accept repaired furniture with no option to return these or to get a discount if I accepted the repairs. She said that wouldn't happen.

I just hope everything else goes smoothly --- This is a fairly nice furniture store, not Value City or Roomful Express.

I was just so excited for my new table and chairs and I want to start having dinner parties!

I am hoping you wrote down this lady's name.
Start documenting now...names, dates, times, what they said.
