Ugh! I went online last night - looking for this replica lightsaber for my ds - it was on sale at bestbuy.com for $69 - yaay- it is $99 on the site normally, $119 in the store - tried to order it online, but kept getting kicked off the web site while ordering it - so I decided to leave it and come back to it this am (it was 11pm or later when I was doing it)...

Today I tell him about it and it being on sale - he's excited to use his Christmas $$ for it - go online to order it - it's now $99! :earseek: I called customer service - they won't honor the price I tried to buy it for last night! :confused3 :confused3 after an hour of being on hold and talking with the rep, I finally gave up.

Best Buy usually has the BEST customer service, bends over backwards to help, at least that has been our experience, at the store level. I guess that ethic doesn't carry over to the web site.
 
Suppose it was a sale in a B&M store. The store had long lines so you decided to go back the next day, after the sale was over. Would you expect them to honor the sale price?

Customer service doesn't mean giving a customer an additional discount or honoring an expired sale.

I agree being put on hold for an hour isn't good customer service but that wasn't your complaint.

Actually - if I had been in a store, I would have checked the sale dates - which are posted with the sale price - and waited if it were the *last day*.

Since I wasn't able to purchase the item via their web site - they should have honored that price when I called them LESS THAN 12 HOURS after I tried to purchase it.

You should have called then and not 12 hours later. I would have expected them to honor it at the time when the site kept kicking you off, but not 12 hours later.
 

I'm sorry that you missed out on a good deal, especially since it was for your DS. I don't think that you'll get Best Buy to back down on this one. In a way, I agree with LewisC and mickeyfan2. They really don't have to honot the sale price for an item once the sale is over.

For future reference, if you have trouble placing an order online, you can call them at 1-888-BESTBUY. They will honor website prices while the sale is in progress. There are a lot of people who are not comfortable putting their credit card info out over the internet who use the phone to place orders instead.
 
I have to agree with the others. If they honored "sale" or "special" pricing after the fact, there would never be any sales. KWIM?
 
I have a BB Rewards Zone card and made a very large purchase last summer. I got almost $100 in reward zone GC's (they arrived in early Oct.). I was holding on to them to buy Christmas Gifts and I misread the expiration date. I thought it was 12/30/05, but it was 12/0305. Irealized this on 12/5 and went to the store to see if I could use them. The customer service rep said they couldn't override the system, but that I would get new ones in the mail. OK. After waiting 3 days, I e-mailed the reward zone site just to check if this was accurate. Nope. once they expire, they're done.

I wasn't a happy camper. I know it was my fault and I was as mad at myself as I was at BB. It was just an oversight on my part, but now I lost out on $100. I was hoping they would make me a happy customer and allow the coupons to be used or re-issue new ones. Nope. If I buy stuff there again and get more GC's I'll definitely pay closer attention to the dates.
