Vegetarians - Your fave meals at WDW?

I am not a vegetarian but am a health conscious eater who tries to make sure and get all their daily vegetables. The places I think you will find have the most options are Tusker House in the Animal Kingdom and Boma in the AK Lodge. The Wave in the Contemporary and Kona in the Poly also have vegetarian dishes that are very good, but won't have the selection available on the two buffets I mentioned.

The other question is where on the vegetarian spectrum do you fall? If you eat fish I would look at Coral Reef. As for CS, the best bet would be a place the offers good salads and the best place I can think of is Sunshine Seasons in the Land pavilion in Epcot.

The veggie option at Ohana is rice with stir fry veggies and tofu. It is delish and most of the other things on the table are vegetarian friendly, too. I LOVE the dessert. If you get a chance to work with Chef TJ, your meal will be even more special!

Vegetarian lasagna at Chefs de France was very good.

Goat's Town at Raglan Road in DTD was awesome!

My favorite veggie meals at WDW have included:
The pasta dishes at CRT
Roasted beet salad with goat cheese at Sunshine Seasons
The assortment available at Boma, but especially the potatoes with afritude, the cous cous and the tofu.
Mickey shaped Mac 'n cheese, because everything shaped like Mickey tastes better!
The veggie burger at Sci-fi because you can get cheddar and sauteed mushrooms on it! YUM! The fries are awesome!
Cheese plate from Harambe fruit market

I am not a vegetarian but I can tell you I loved the veggie cuban from Sunshine Seasons and the veggie lasagne from Tonys on Main Street in MK.

They were both out of this world yummy!

Thanks everyone! I guess technically I am a pescetarian because I will occasionally eat shrimp, but that is about it. Last time I went to Ohana I was a meat eater, but we did make ressies there for this trip because I saw some amazing reviews of their vegetarian options. We also are trying Tusker House, too! I didn't think of the Wave though...

This is a great thread, while not being a vegetarian myself I will be travelling to WDW in April with one and I have been stressing about where to eat!

DD is a vegetarian, and her favorite is Teppan Edo. She had a beautifully-arranged vegetable platter, which the chef even prepared first so that her vegetables wouldn't mix with the meat on the grill, a thoughtful gesture. It was such a pretty meal that she even took a photo of it before she started eating, and she said it was delicious.

My fav as a vegetarian is the combination plate at the San Angel Inn! It is AMAZING and as always the margaritas are meat free!!!:wizard:

The coconut noodle bowl at the Brown Derby is wonderful, but I wish the portion of tofu was larger.

I love the Gratin de macaroni at Chefs de France

Tutto Italia has great food. Not that many veggie choices on the menu, but they are happy to customize for you. Last time I had the Bucattini Pasta with no ham and it was very good. Also, Mama Melroses appears to have quite a few veggie options. I am planning to try it next time.

The Seared Marinated Tofu at the Sci-Fi Dine In was delicious, although I don't care for the atmosphere of that restaurant.

Also, the vegetable sandwhich at ESPN is tasty, as is the Tomato and Mozzarella sandwhich served for lunch at Captain's Grille. I also really like the Tomato and Mozzarella sandwhich served at The Plaza.

I also like the tofu dishes at Sci-Fi and Brown Derby and I think the veggie sandwiches at Columbia Harbor House and Backlot Express are great. I'm confused about Rose and Crown. They used to have a wonderful vegetable curry but changed to an icky, cheapo pile of leftover goo, but they may have gone back to the curry.

Tusker House & Boma are my favorites! Mmmm! We are at WDW now and just ate at Tusker House on Wednesday and there were so many options! Delish!

I love Boma! I always find such great things to eat and the chefs there are more than happy to walk with you through the buffet to let you know what is vegetarian or vegan. So helpful!

I also really enjoy the vegetable couscous meal at Marrakesh. It was really tasty and more than enough food. To be honest, I haven't had many bad experiences with food at WDW. The worst meal I had was back in 2006 at the Coral Reef and that was only because I *hate* lentils. If I had been a lentil fan, I'm sure I would have enjoyed that as well.

Have a great trip!:goodvibes

My DH called the manager at Jiko over to praise their vegetarian option, which is a seared maize cake with piquillo pepper sauce.

mmm.. just thinking of all the yummy things that i like to eat at wdw. :)

i'm a lactose intolerant vegetarian and wdw has the best foods for me!

columbia harbor house has a great veg chili. used to come in a bread bowl, not sure they do anymore.

obviously you can never go wrong with victoria and alberts. super yum!

artist point has delicious potato chive pot stickers. omg! so good! possibly my all time favorite item!

i'm also a big fan of sci fi drive in - the pan seared tofu is very good but i agree with the pp regarding the atmosphere. the drive in aspect is cool but the sci fi aspect is not terribly appealing to me.

the 1900 park fare dinner buffet was probably the best buffet we've had on property - lots of veggie options without needing any special requests which is always nice. :)

almost any wdw restaurant will cater to vegetarians if you give them a heads up in advance when you make your ressies - or even if you mention it at checkin. i don't think i've been to any places that weren't accomodating or eager to help.

also a big fan of rain forest cafe. not technically a wdw restaurant but on property and very yummy. we have one near home as well but the ones at wdw are better. :)

Hey there!
My husband is also pescetarian, and I'm a vegan. I'm pretty sure no matter where you go, you're going to have something delicious to eat and everyone here has offered some really great suggestions you can't go wrong with.
For my upcoming trip in November, I have ADR's for Crystal Palace (character buffet with lots of veggie options), Boma (african buffet), Tusker House (another buffet, inside the AK), Sci-Fi Diner (they had a tofu dish that looks amazing), California Grill and 'Ohana. For counter services, I've heard great things about the Columbia Harbor House in the Magic Kingdom (if you like shrimp, they have some great breaded shrimp and a veggie sandwich, as well as veggie chili), Sunshine Seasons in Epcot and Tangerine Cafe, which is also in Epcot.

Look into Sanaa, too, which is at Kidani Village. That's one of the newer African restaurants and I've heard great things about their veggie options.
Cat Cora's new restaurant Kouzinna also seemed to have quite a few vegetarian options on the menu but it's so new that I don't know too much about that one yet.

Good luck, have fun!

Tusker House is amazing! There are SO many choices. Make sure you ask a chef to show you what is vegetarian and what is not--some of the veggies are made with chicken broth, and the last time I was there a couple of the desserts had gelatin. But Kit, one of the chefs, knows exactly what is vegetarian and what is vegan.

Rose and Crown used to be one of my favorite places to eat (they had a to-die-for curry for awhile and root vegetable pot pie for a while) but now their only vegetarian option is a disgusting shepherd's pie which is just a glop of potatoes on top of what is obviously a frozen pea-corn-green bean mixture.Yuck.

I like the combo plate at the sit-down restaurant in Mexico--it's wonderful when it's hot, so-so when it's not.

Felafel at Morocco counter service--very good and freshly made.

Fries at the kosk outside of Rose and Crown--the best french fries in the world and they are NOT fried in the same vat with the fish. They are truly vegetarian.

Mama Melrose--flatbread pizza--tasty!

Lasagne at Chefs de France-OK. Mac and cheese--pretty good.

Hummus sandwich at Lighthouse counterservice in MK--very good. Also, the veggie sandwich at the MainStreet Bakery is not always on display, but they usually have it if you ask for it. It's mozzarella and veggies and is very good.

My husband loved the Sauteed Potato Gnocchi at LeCellier.
It was the meal he was dreading the most because he didn't know what he'd be able to eat, but he is still talking about how good it was!
