Hubby and I are going for a short trip in a few weeks. We are both vegetarians (no meat, chicken, fish, broth, gelatin, etc) but we eat dairy and eggs.

The only table service we have our heart set on is Le Cellier. I know that if you call ahead you can have special meals. Has anyone done this before here, vegetarian in particular? We want something somewhat Canadian :) Any tips on menu items that are vegetarian? ANy help appreciated! Thanks

Thanks for posting the menu link! I need to find out if the cheddar soup can be made without bacon, and if it has any chicken broth. I love cheese soup!!

Does Le Cellier still have the Canadian breadstick selection? Am I confusing this with something else?

Honeibee- I'll keep you posted!!! Do you have the Walt Disney world vegetarian dining guide? It is a few years old unfortunately (2003), but it is still somewhat helpful. You can buy it on amazon for like 2.00 plus shipping!

I just ate in Le Cellier (review forthcoming) and am a veggie myself. They had butternut squash risotto wich was really good. I ate there a couple of years ago and the veggie dish was also to die for. Usually there is only one thing on the menu, but it is normally really good, and a bit different. Even though it is a steakhouse, I never mind going there.

Oh, and they still do have the amazing breadstick selection!

I'm also a vegetarian and we ate at Le Cellier in January. The Butternut Squash Risotto was very good...one of my best meals at Disney.

The cheese soup definitely has bacon in it. I've got the Disney recipe book and just checked it out.

I would get the cheese selection as an app, then ask the server what he/she recommended for entree. I'm sure the chef would make you something you would like with all vegetarian ingredients. It's really a first class restaurant.

The best bet is to call the restaurant and talk to the chef. There are some choices which may seem like they are vegetarian, when in reality they are not. Some "vegetarian" dishes may contain meat/chicken/seafood based broths, but many of the chefs will prepare a strictly vegetarian or vegan version if you make arrangements 24-48 hours in advance.

We found this to be the case with many of the soup or rice dishes at restaurants throughout The World. We now call the restaurants directly - WDW Dining will connect you - and speak to a Chef who will consult and tailor a vegetarian dinner for you.

Boma, by the way, at the AKLodge has many excellent options for vegetarians.

Sadly, "off the menu" vegetarian/vegan options are rather limited at WDW sit-down restaurants.
