We are going to WDW in december and my sister is a vegetarian, I would like to know if there are any good resturaunts for vegetarians in Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Mgm Studios for her to eat at. She is not a vegan though, and is not a picky eater. Your help is most appreciated cause I have no idea what places are good :confused3.

I have a mostly vegetarian diet and have had no problem finding food in any of the parks. A favorite vegetarian dish of mine is the Amber Waves of Grain at the Liberty Tree Tavern in the Mk at lunch. They also serve it for dinner by request during the character meal. They have a good eggplant dish at Mama Melrose at MGM. I love the vegetable couscous at Marrakesh in Morocco at Epcot.

For counter service a few favorites are:

Veggie Burger at Starlight Ray's Cafe at the Magic Kingdom
Lighthouse Sandwich at Columbia Harbour House at the Magic Kingdom
Cheese and baguette plate at the French bakery, not sure of the name
Cuban Veggie Sandwich at Seasons in Epcot

I hope this helped a little!

Go to allearsnet.com and check ou the dining for vegetarian/vegans. I recently cut out meat (I am gonna eat seafood when we go though) and the articles were a big help with where to go for CS(big help). We had already made our reservations for sitdown, so I just have to pick and choose(I've been checking out the menus ahead of time to get an idea). One that I have read that's supposed to be great for selection is Crystal Palace.

Thanks, that helped me too.

The lighthouse sandwich at the Columbia Harbour, is the best! Hummus and brocolli slaw on health nut bread.

Also the Caprice at The Earl in DTD is very good, as well as the ultimate grilled cheese sandwich.

Here is a pic of the Falafel from AKL, DW had fried shrimp but try to ignore that.

All the TS restaurants in MK have decent vegetarian food; there are no worries there--it'll be more a matter of what menu does the whole party like. (Personally, I'd probably pick Crystal Palace.) At MGM, 50's Prime Time and the Brown Derby would be my suggestions. At Epcot, the food at San Angel Inn (have to ask for the vegetarian menu), Rose and Crown, Coral Reef and Marrakesh get good reviews from vegetarians. I liked the buffet at Biergarten, too.

For CS, there are lots of choices in the parks you mention. At MK: Columbia Harbour House and Main Street Bakery are my favorites. Epcot: Sunshine Seasons, Tangierine Cafe, Boulangerie Patisserie. I would totally skip CS meals in China and Japan. But for snacks, all of Epcot is great--pretzels, churros, school bread, kaki gori, chips, etc etc etc. In MGM, Rosie's has a very big veggie burger (soy type) that I found quite filling. Also ABC Commissary and Backlot Express have good stuff. Starring Rolls Bakery is probably also good to check out--I don't know what they'll have.

If you're going to Animal Kingdom, have dinner at Boma in the Animal Kingdom Lodge at the end of the day! :thumbsup2

Tangerine Cafe, as mentioned above, has a great vegetarian plate. I almost always order it, even though I'm not vegetarian, just because it's so good.

Oh there are MANY good places to eat for a vegetarian! In MK my favorites are crystal palace (buffet) and columbia harbor house. They have a sandwich made with hummus and coleslaw that is very good. I also hear their vegetarian chili is good but I haven't tried it yet. Maybe in 4 days when i go back to the world! :)

In MGM there is mama melrose which my boyfriend and I like very much. They have an eggplant dish that is really good. We're big eggplant fans. There is also Prime time cafe which has a vegetarian stuffed pepper that is OK. I would go first for the Mama Melrose. At Sci Fi dine in they have a vegetable dish that I thoroughly enjoyed, and they have a spinach artichoke dip that is also really good.

There's a number of places to eat at epcot. My boyfriends favorite is San Angel Inn. They have a separate vegetarian menu which has two meals on it. The plato vegetarian which we had was really good. We were very pleased. Sunshine seasons has a few different options, the vegetarian sandwich is very good in my opinion. My boyfriend would not eat it though because it has mustard on it. He's not a fan of mustard. Also alfredos (though i don't know about the *new* alfredos) food was good, we had (what else!) fettucini alfredo. They don't call that place alfredos for nothing! :)

My favorite is boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It's a buffet that offers a lot of vegetarian options. They have some decent hummus and breads, they always have atleast one vegetarian soup (butternut squash is my favorite), they have felafel that is good, potatoes, lots of stuff.

If you check out the dining review boards right now there is an excellent post about 3 vegetarians who dined for 8 days, the reviews are really good, with pictures, so maybe you could show your sister those and she can decide if she wants to eat at any of those places. Also check out the allears menus where you can read descriptions of each meal and figure out what she might like. There are a TON of vegetarian posts on these boards so if you do a search you are likely to turn up with a lot of stuff. Good luck

Hi, I was very interested in your recommendations as my son is a foodie vegetarian and we are going to WDW in 26 days! Do you have a link for that post from the 3 vegetarians who ate for 8 days? Thanks.

I'm vegan (partly due to a dairy allergry) and had a great trip this past June regarding food - I always say that I get the best meal because the chefs usually make me something really special. A rundown of where we ate and how much I liked it:

Chef Mickey's - the worst buffet for vegetarians/vegans and the chef's meal for me was just okay. (Worst buffet for non-vegetarians too, in the opinion of the meat eaters in the family)

California Grill - they have a vegetarian/vegan option on the menu. Bland, boring, and no protein other than some mushrooms. There was a vegan couple at the table next to us celebrating their anniversary - they too thought it was not worth having come there.

Crystal Palace - the best buffet in all of WDW after Boma at AKL. Lots of interesting options on the buffet and the chef cooked a few extra things for me since some of the buffet items had dairy in them.

Coral Reef - Surprisingly one of our favorite meals for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike.

Tangierine Cafe in Morocco - great vegetarian options at a CS restaurant.

Boma at AKL - great options on the buffet but the chef went way out of his way to cook me a fabulous creation with crispy tofu, wonderfully spiced veggies and rice. Beautifully presented too. Unfortunately, it was the one meal I didn't have a camera on me so I couldn't take a photo. And, he made me a vegan dessert that was to die for - tasted like warm oreos wrapped in pastry shells with chocolate sauce drizzled on top - even my DD, age 9 loved it.

Sci-Fi - at lunch they have a fabulous curry dish with crispy, thin tofu - excellent.

Hollywood and Vine - not bad; better for vegetarians than for vegans. Chef made me a nice dish - nothing too fancy.

The veggie burgers at Cosmic Ray's and Pecos Bills are ordinary but the fixings bars are great.

Due to my food allergies, each TS restaurant had the chef come talk to me - they are always willing to prepare something special; you just need to ask.

I was in charge of making ADRs for a group of 4. My MIL is a vegetarian. The only place I was worried about was Ohana--because it really is about the meat there. It turned out to be her favorite of the trip. They prepared a huge bowl of stir-fried veggies and noodles for her with a yummy sauce. She raved. All of the other restaurants were very accomodating as well.

here

is the 8 nights of vegetarian dining review. She's not done yet but it is VERY helpful and I'm sure your son will enjoy it and get some great ideas.

I am assuming she is lacto-ovo (eating eggs and milk items) then breakfast is always a great bet! I loved the Lilo and Stitch breakfast at Ohana's and the Princess Norway breakfast at Akerhuas. We throw in a character breakfast every couple of days to liven things up a bit.

Like others have said Columbia Harbor cs was great, and Coral reef was my hands down best TS last year. 1900 Park Fare dinner buffet was good, Le cellier was not so good. (I go there for Dh, But others have had great meals there.)

This time I am trying the veggie lasanga or the mac anc cheese at Chefs de france and I have to try Marrakesh for something different!

I am a strict vegetarian, so it can be hard sometimes, especially because I don't eat mushrooms or the Boca burgers they serve at most WDW locations (Boca burgers taste like meat, which is great for some people, but I vastly prefer Gardenburgers, because they taste nothing like meat), but there is plenty to eat at the theme parks.

Any table service restaurant will be very accommodating; all you have to do is let them know you're vegetarian. Pretty much all the restaurants have at least one vegetarian option. Counter service is a little harder because they can't really do custom orders, but it's diverse enough that you can usually find something more than just french fries.

For counter service at the Magic Kingdom, I like Columbia Harbor House in Liberty Square. They have vegetarian chili and a hummus sandwich.

In Epcot, there's Morocco as previously mentioned, and the Electric Umbrella in Future World has a hummus wrap.

At the Studios, the Commissary has egg rolls and possibly a couple of other options.

Animal Kingdom is by far the hardest park for me to eat in. The food selection is pretty limited there.
