DW & I are planning a Vegas trip in April (this time without the kids), partly for business, and partly for fun. We're staying at the Rio. My question is, which shows should be on our "do not miss" list?

I guess it depends on what types of shows you're looking for. Comedy? Magic? Theatre? Stage shows?

Mystere and Ble Man are on my list... I've seen 'O' which is amazing... so thats my suggestion.

8 days until Vegas for me:bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc

If it is showing there is a free show in front of Pleasure Island with Pirates that is really good - you stand on the sidewalk out front - but be prepared to stake out your spot early

I guess we're looking for the overall experience, the spectacle. The ones that you walk away from totally amazed and not wondering why you spent the $$ and time on them. Sort of the "only in Vegas" experience, you know?

We are considering one of the Cirque shows, and/or Penn & Teller, but I am sure there are others we would enjoy too.

I loved Caesars's Magical Empire, but I think someone posted recently that it had closed. A true "showgirls" type show is Jubilee, which was pretty good. For comedians, I like Danny Gans. Lance Burton is an illusionist at Monte Carlo (I think) and he is excellent. My absolute favorites though are Mystere and "O", both Cirque shows.

Blue Man, Blue Man, Blue Man!!! I've seen it 2x in Vegas and once in Boston. It is so funny and the music is great! I only reccomend it if you have an open mind about entertainment, the experiance is awesome, but some people don't "get it." The music is loud and the show can be "weird" for some. However, if you can be optimistic, you'll love it. The more you can get into it and play along, the more you'll enjoy the show. It's also slightly cheaper than the Cirques

O and Mystere are awesome as well. My fiance like Mystere better. In terms of personal strength and talent, Mystere is amazing. I liked O better, I'm partial to water, and the show moved a little faster. Both have the somewhat annoying "clowns" that I find distracting, but I can tune those guys out:)

Hope I can help. We went last year and saw 8 shows!!

We saw "O". We have been to many Cirque performances but this one is truly unique. Loved it!! (My sons just got back from LV this week and saw Mystere and said it was very good but they like "O" better

Danny Gans~Very good but too hyped and expensive IMHO

The Rat Pack~Very good impersonations and singing. Enjoyed this show.

Siegfred and Roy~Do not waste your time and money on this one..what a major dissapointment.

Lance Burton~A very good magician. I have seen better but my husband said this was his fav. magician.

David Copperfield~Just o.k. I figured out a lot of his tricks.

Clint Holmes~Do not miss this perfomance!! What a voice such a talent. The show is fab!!

The Shinta's~2 brothers and their Sister. Another not to be missed show. They do everything. Singing. Impersonations. Jokes. Play instruments. I loved it a lot!!

Hope this helps.

If you need help with dinners just let me know. We ate at all of the finest.

Sorry to piggyback on your thread, Ricola, but I'm planning a Vegas trip too and would love to know any restaurant recommendations you have TandJ. It's been about three years since I've been to Vegas.

Thanks! :)

We loved The Rat Pack show (but I don't think it's playing anymore). Lance Burton was also excellent! :)

I've heard better things about Mystere than O (overall) and I'd love to see the Scintas show (they're from the Akron, OH area originally).

WM Michelle,

We attended a wedding in Vegas in October, the wedding dinner was held at a restaurant off the strip called Le Pamplemousse. www.pamplemousserestaurant.com It really does not look like much from the outside, but it was so delightful.

This was without a doubt the best meal I have EVER had. EVER. It is a little pricey, but well worth it.

This was our first time in LV and I liked it so much more than I thought I would, and would actually like to go back.

We did not get to see any shows this time around, except for the Pirate Show (we stayed at TI).

I recommend the following restaurants at the Bellagio:

Le Cirque: For a special dinner. Excellent service and Amazing food.

Picasso: Again excellent service and food and great views of the fountains at night too.

Circo: This is a lunch place... it's a sister of Le Cirque and the food and service are again impeccible.

Prime: For a good steak (I dont eat steak but the H said it was good ad he's picky) and good chop like stuff go there... beautiful interior and great food.

Mamma Mia will be at the Mandalay Bay starting in February if you like ABBA music.

Mystere and "O"- Cirque du Soleil

And to think when I saw the title I was thinking "Vega$, which Dan Tanna episode did I like best" :teeth:

Avoid Crazy Girls at the Riviera!!

Now DH might say it was enjoyable but that was purely because it was topless and quite provocative. We never would have gone if the tickets weren't free with our room.

Considering there are bronze molds of the dancers and their thong clad behinds on exterior of the hotel, I guess we should have known. ;) LOL.

I've heard that "O" is great!

If you can stand buffets I've heard the Rio has a great one.

Have fun Ricola!

Tamie

Ok here are some resturants..this is not all that we ate at but some I can't remember and some I really don't need to list i.e buffet @ Bellagio etc. (although my sons just got back from Vegas this week and they went to the Rio buffet. They said they were told it was the largest buffet in the world. It covers food from 10 countries and the meals change 5 times a day!! They loved it.)

I have listed a few and a commet by each.

I would echo what Preshi said above about all of the resturants at Bellagio except for Picasso

Picasso~ Bellagio (888) 987-6667 American $$$$
IMHO one of the worst meals we had ever eaten. You leave feeling very hungry because each course is just a little tiny sample. The service was horrible and the cost was way overpriced.

Renoir~ Mirage, The(800) 627-6667 American $$$$
Excellent food and service and much more filling than Picasso. Beautiful atmosphere and stunning paintings .

Nectar~ Bellagio (888) 987-6667 American $$
Blah!! Good service horrible food.

Emeril Lagasse's New Orleans Fish House MGM Grand Hotel and Casino (800) 929-1111 Cajun/Creole/Caribbean $$$$
One of the best meals we have ever eaten (besides Victoria and Alberts at the Grand Floridian)
Service is superb also.

Delmonico Steakhouse Venetian Resort - Hotel - Casino (888) 283-6423 Steakhouse $$$
Another resturant by Emeril Lagasse. Very Good food and excellent service.

Prime~Bellagio $$$$ The food and service were spectacular. I was treated like a princess and lost count of how many were waiting on us. This was by far our most expensive meal but well worth it.

Let me know if you need any other info on any other resturants. We ate at quite a few more less expensive with a more casual atomosphere.

Hope this helps

Dh and I are doing our annual August trip:) This time I definitely want to check out Chippendales:p :p Speaking of Rio's, have any of you tried that HUGE Margarita:o Two years ago while dining at the Seafood Buffet inside Rio's, I decided to try one by myself:o :o Dh does not drink so I was basically on my own trying to drink that MOnster:p I sipped the Mega Marty to the top of R in the word Rio's and stopped. I could of sworn my crab legs were moving on the plate:o :o
