VDH Questions for Purchasing

Booking a duo studio for d23 would only be 68 points but im afraid we wont be comfortable in that bed im scared.

We're barely going to be in the room and just need somewhere close to sleep, but that expo is exhausting and we need to sleep good. What do yall think? Do two adults really sleep comfortable in the murphy bed? I do love the jungle theme
Don't do it if you want to relax or take a break in the room at all. I stayed by myself in one and would honestly prefer a Harbor hotel. Although, you could always enjoy hanging around the hotel grounds. 🤷

I do like @UrsulaWantsYourSoul 's idea of using it when arriving late for one night to save points.

The mattress on the murphy’s are more comfortable than you might think. Heck still a deluxe hotel stay. 😂
Do u think for four nights is ok or is it one of those things where 1-2 nights is fine and then wouldnt do it for more.

Would you rather stay in the harbor hotel because of the bed or how small the room is? My wife likes to sleep with what I call her army of pillows (5 surrounding her) and were both light sleepers. Im thinking we should try duo on another shorter stay lol

class of 2004-2006 haha it was the 50th so it was extra special ✨

The only years I had an annual pass were 2005-2007. (Premium AP was only around $360!) I lived in Orange from September 2005-March 2007 and during that time, I was at the parks almost daily! I miss the lack of crowds back then. One night we rode Big Thunder 3 times in a row without getting off and it was during fireworks and so wonderful.

Wait, we must have crossed paths or at least know many of the same people! I worked there in 2006!! PM me lol. 🤣

What areas of the parks did you all work in?? I didn't work there but I was there almost daily in 2006.

Realizing that you can only buy OTUP at 7 months when VDH 1 bedrooms are usually long gone. Strangely you’ll have good luck with VGC 1 bedrooms at 7 months much more often

Probably not the thread for this question, but how do you switch a reservation at 7 months. Do you go on at exactly 7am (or whatever time it is) and click to modify reservation? Or do you have to completely cancel and rebook?

I'm so happy to have bought VDH. I enjoy my trips a little more each time I go. I even miss VDH when I stay at The Grand. The tropical landscaping and walkways are just so enjoyable along with all the Disney theming. Still enjoy VGC at Christmas time and its proximity to the resorts, but overall VDH really does feel like home to me.

That's good to hear. I do worry if we buy VDH instead of more VGC, we'll miss the grand californian too much. I do enjoy a tropical vibe on vacation though. My husband is a bit more "meh" about that though.

It's due to the size of the room. When the bed is down, it's basically a bed and a large bathroom. There would be no place for my husband and I to put our stuff in an organized or convenient manner.

The bed itself was comfortable. A bit firmer than the normal beds, but fine for sleeping. You might want to book a one or two night stay just to try it. If you are miserable, you can always abandon ship and go home.

I wonder if the garden room duo would be bigger inside? But then at that point im like mine as well cough up a few poonts for a full studio. If it has a larger square footage inside (dont care about balcony for that trip) I would consider. But your right I need to try it beforehand especially with that convention where I bring back a million shopping bags lol

With 200 points i can stay for a week in a one bedroom for my birthday. That would come out to 224 points and then I can otup 24 of them. I dont want to stay a whole week at once but the fact that one week fit perfectly with my birthday I feel is a sign of what I need to do here
Geez why you gotta make me come in here and be negative. A week at DLR is a lot. I wouldn’t plan on wanting to be there for a whole week. Plus then you’ve used all your points.

I think possibly not doing MB give you cushion for any extra points you need for stays, otup have to be used at 7 months and I think you would end up using those at WDW.

I’m still team 150 and you decide on MB. Personally I would rather have 150 points than go on 2027 member cruise. There will be future cruises.

With that said if you decide on 200 it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.

I recalculated to more realistic stays. A studio for d23 for four nights in August is 90 points. That still makes MB look good and youre right, If I want to spoil myself I can just skip MB. Im not talking to my cousin right now so I dont see the need for bigger rooms right now. That can change next week tho.

I didn’t get that far in the thread yet. 🧐

Omgg I didnt realize that d23 dates have already been announced! We're a week past the 7 month booking window! I can try for the welcome home stay for that but the longer it takes to get my points, the less chances for me to stalk if they cant do it! I am in crisis mode again, sound the alarm!!! With every passing minute my plans are melting away. Time to call my guide i need to sign immediately! @tx911
Remember you only get 1 welcome home stay. What if you can’t secure D23 tickets?

I worked in Fantasyland and Toontown. Have you stayed at vdh before? I always recommend staying. I toured it and although I loved what I saw, you dont really FEEL how much youre going to like it until you stay.

Like all the extra touches they did for us had me loving it. We wouldnt be having this conversation if I never stayed there I def would have went with poly and not even thought about it. Ive never switch a reservation at 7 Months yet so I feel someone else could better answer that.

Signing at home is so convenient (and boring) but I want to say if I got to wake up and go to the Resort and sign that would actually be super magical!!

Congrats!
I know i just think it would be special to sign in person for my first direct and then look at the one bedroom again and go to the parks after for the lounge (if the direct pops up on the same day or maybe she can take us!) That's why I chose Monday because im not blocked out but ofc I havent been able to get a reservation 🙄

Ive never seen d23 sell out for just the expo on the first day so at least I would get that but the really FUN part with all the celebrities and announcements is hard to get into.

They separated that into the Honda Center at night last time. So we could still go to the expo all day if we don't get it. One of the days is also d23 in the parks so ill be able to go to that too, they do special giveaways.

It really is fun just to be even outside of the convention and see all the crazy costumes. With that being said I will be sad if we dont get to go to the best part. I barely got tickets last time on the last sale day. It used to be dependent on how fast you were which I liked, I scored sorcerer tickets when they used to do that and that was so awesome. But now its random. I used 5 different devices and snagged them on my tablet last time with the random draw but a lot of people didnt get it

Ive Never been but I’ve seen some say tickets are hard to get. Sounds like you know what you are doing.

Also just an fyi if you book something and then decide you want something different they can’t change it. :( They can cancel but won’t book another one.

this was a fun thread to catch up on! congrats on your direct purchase and sounds like VDH was the right home for you! that price per point after MB is pretty sweet, too! enjoy!
