Yeah, I'm pretty sure guest parking it across the street. I've never heard of anyone parking underground there.

I think VDH be possible for studios at 7 months but not always and it might be available for a discount in a few years. I don't think anyone knows for sure. We live in Florida so we probably won't visit enough to buy, but I like this resort from what I can tell. Never been to DL. I would probably buy there if I were to visit regularly though without a doubt. VGC is too hard to pick up resale and this seems like a great alternative. I was actually considering a small add on there, but I think we will just rent a hotel for a few nights for our first visit to DL someday or try to pick up a few nights on points at 7 months.I already have a blue card. Can anyone articulate an argument for buying VDH if you already have direct benefits? I was all in, then out, then in, and now I’m thinking about just waiting and trying to book at 7 mo with my direct points. I really want VDH, but is the smart money move to wait and see if I can book at 7 mo (will travel mostly in January or March)? If I can’t book at 7 mo I can wait and buy resale (I would only use at VDH so restrictions don’t matter - I own resale Riv and it works fine).
So I guess the real questions are - 1) who thinks VDH at 7 mo will be possible (studios) and 2) who thinks resale VDH will be available at a significant discount to direct in 2 years?
Thank you @Sandisw. I skimmed over the document and was a bit shocked to see all the loose verbiage that basically guarantees nothing to VGC owners other than the ability to book a room. Not even the restaurants, services, and the theme park surrounding the hotel was guaranteed to be around, somehow suggesting the possibility that Disneyland could move elsewhere while the hotel stays. I clearly saw the parking verbiage though. The parking structure being referenced is now strictly a valet parking garage. Perhaps at one time, VGC owners were allowed to park there but now we all haveto park across the street on the GCH lot or overflow to PPH parking. All that tells me the free parking is a perk that can go away at any time, and not part of our dues? I gotta re-read our operating cost dues statement. Thanks again for reading through the POS. Most of it was like trying to read some tax law book. So painfully boring
Even with substantial incentives, those are a negligible benefit if holding the contract for 20+ years. If you map out the full life cycle costs the incentives make us feel good but really have minimal impact when considering ongoing annual fees. All resorts are this way with some more than others.Yeah; we've considered AKL; but won't be hopping through the ropes tomorrow and potential switch.
We're KIS. VDH incentives will need to carry us to the finish line for a direct purchase. Otherwise; we're good with our resales VGC+AUL. Direct is nice; but not worth the differential yet.
If they make it enticing; we'll listen to the pitch-- ie read the incentives.
I can understand why Disney will use this kind of verbiage to have ultimate control and power. Though I can’t see things like removing pool access and the theme park itself ever moving away, I can totally see them having to remove free parking and adding additional taxes out of sheer necessity. in the end, the owners are mostly powerless from what I gather from the legal and contractual documents that most people gloss over and sign because we are mostly interested in just owning and booking there. I am just going to bury my head in the sand and hope things stay the way they are. I’m sure it will be a hot topic of conversation if it ever happens. All the DVC resorts include the language that pretty much guanratees nothing but a stay at your home resort ehst is declared as a common element
Those that are at shared locations definitely have less. For example, PVB and VGF specifically mention that access to pools is not guaranteed. Yet, RIV and BLT would as those were declared into the condo.
It does sound like free parking in the lot would not be guaranteed but there must be be something in the original parking easement document that exists to define those terms.
That might be something I’d want to see if I was part of VGC, given what may end up happening with VDH.
Keep in mind, per my guide...the AKL deal ends May 1. Not sure if whatever they offer next will be as attractive.Personally; i would wait since you already have blue status AND don't mind VDH restrictions to VDH only. With Blue; you have 7month access and I don't think it'll be an issue getting in at 7months near term while still selling inventory.
We just don't have blue so trying to determine if VDH direct vs AKL $165+bonus points direct -- all depends on incentives come May 2.
Yep. It is tempting. If we were AKL Value studio goers it would be very tempting. We're savanah folk so home advantage at AKL is a bit of a waste for that reasoning. The math for direct purchase would make sense at VDH IF the incentives are tempting enough to buy direct. Resale restrictions don't make us worried for VDH.Keep in mind, per my guide...the AKL deal ends May 1. Not sure if whatever they offer next will be as attractive.
We just booked a few day trip for end of May just down the road and knowing - A) about the “hack” to walk to the Toy Story lot and take the bus over (so glad to learn things from all of you pros here) and B) that I have a happy place to go rest and get a cool beverage (or some caffeine) made me less sad to “stay outside of the bubble”… I’ll likely go sit in the lobby at the Grand Cal for a bit at some point and dream about having 2000 VGC points one day…The lounge is a really add-on for our multiple day trips throughout the year when not staying over in VGC.
It is.I heard the underground parking is for valet
exactly and that's the benefit for DW as she waits for us between Space, Matterhorn (when it runs) and Nemo.We just booked a few day trip for end of May just down the road and knowing - A) about the “hack” to walk to the Toy Story lot and take the bus over (so glad to learn things from all of you pros here) and B) that I have a happy place to go rest and get a cool beverage (or some caffeine) made me less sad to “stay outside of the bubble”… I’ll likely go sit in the lobby at the Grand Cal for a bit at some point and dream about having 2000 VGC points one day…
I’m not sure how much value I’d put on that new lounge in Tomorrow Land. It would be quite a bit. 20 bucks a day+ to have a place to relax, cool down, and regain some sanity. I love it.
Well we've come full circle and are back to where we are almost certain we will buy at VDH.
We were looking at the prices for off-site hotels that we have stayed at more recently and were shocked by how much the rates have jumped (the last place has nearly doubled since our trip in 2021). The other thing that we did was to ask our adult daughters to weigh in on the decision, as they will be the ones living with the dues and bed tax much longer than us.
So how we are looking at it now is that the up-front purchase price will be our big expense and the girls will ultimately end up paying for the bulk of the dues and bed tax.
Bottom line is that we both would rather regret buying versus regretting not buying for the second time. Although it would have been a stretch at the time, we very much regret not buying pre-opening VGC when we had the opportunity.
Ouch, yea thats a tough one. We all wish we had done that.Well we've come full circle…
